Has a band or CD ever surprised you?

American Idiot surprised me. I'd always been a casual Green Day fan, but I was really dissappointed with their couple prior albums, so American Idiot caught me off guard.

Incubus, wasn't much of a fan until I saw them live, they blew me away and have been one of my top 10 or so since then.

Modest Mouse. Liked "Float On", then "Loved Ocean Breaths Salty." Picked up that CD and loved it, then caught them live and loved the show. Their music is pretty varied and not what I expected based off those two aforementioned songs. Have picked up a few more CDs and love them as well (except a couple real early ones that are pretty rough).

On August 5, 1982 Dsis, my BF and I went to see Queen in concert. It was my first concert with no parents and I was Sooooo excited! QUEEN!!
IT was the worst concert I've ever been to. Before or since. (parents took us to all sorts of concerts our whole lives) Talk about disappointed. I remember though that Billy Squire opened for them, and HE was good.

Also that year, we went to see the J. Geils Band (remember "Centerfold"?)
Well, they were okay - and their opening act was great! Dsis and I (oh, and BF) walked out talking about the opening act, and how if they stopped doing covers and started doing their own songs, they'd make it BIG!
Thus began a life-long love affair (from afar) of Dave Evans (The Edge) and U2!

I was really surprised at how good Fall Out Boy's newest CD is. It really blew me away at how deep the lyrics are, and the music is just awesome.

I bought a Kelly Clarkson cd because I liked "Since you've Been Gone" (before I had Itunes)--- and was surprised that I actually really enjoyed the entire cd.

Martin Sexton. I really didn't like his studio recordings but to see him LIVE. Holy Cannoli! He blew my socks off! I've been a big fan ever since (but only of his live shows).
