Disney Movie Club extra perks vs. BJs/Sams

I did the math on joining DMC and it looks like it comes to about $17.53 per movie. BJs usually sells new releases (mostly what I'd get besides about 3 oldies I want to add to my collection) for about $18. So, its not a huge savings - just the convenience of having them delivered. Also, I read here on older posts that the new releases don't hit DMC for several weeks (not a huge deal, though).

So, are there any other perks that make DMC valuable to you ? I'm trying to decide if I should join, or just keep buying my new movies at the warehouse stores.

I actually joined a few years ago...I like it, the kids get the movies in the mail, they always have deals like free shipping or buy 1 at regular price get another 1/2 price...

I do not know if there is much savings but they enjoy it and at the holidays it does make shopping easier...true the new releases do come out a little later and there are a few movies that I have bought as soon as they came out (or through the disney store) but there are a lot of movies that I have on VCR (I have been collecting them for years) so this gives me the opportunity to shift over to have them all on DVD....

I joined because their intro offer was pretty good. The paperwork is at home but from my memory - if I used my Disney Visa I got a discount, 50% off if I ordered a 5th movie, and a 6th movie for a special discounted price. I only have to buy 2 more movies to complete my membership agreement. You only have to buy 4 movies over 2 years time.

Wait for the movie club to make an offer you can't refuse before you join.

Ah, I love to hear about "an offer I can't refuse"

I have a Disney Visa & didn't realize there might be an additional perk there, so thanks for that tip.

I joined because it was a special offer. I think the first 4 movies for something like 1.99 each and free shipping. Then I only had to buy 2 or 4 (I can't remember now) more before I could cancel. Of course I haven't yet because they do have a lot of movies that I can't seem to find at my local stores. Yes sometimes the movies are more expensive, but when you're a VIP member (meaning you've met your obligation) they pretty much always have buy one at regular price get the second for 40 to 50% off - so it works out the same price (kinda) but it comes in the mail (saves gas money).

I do both. Sometimes I buy the movies at BJ's and other times I order them through the DMC. I originally joined because it was a great deal and I was looking for a movie that wasn't in the stores anymore but they had some available.

I originally joined with a deal for $1.99 per movie and the did the buy a 5th movie for X amount of dollars. My main motivation for joining was to get some of the older animated classics on DVD (that were hard to find in store) to replace some of my VHS tapes. I met my obligation within the first two months.

I am a VIP member and do not wait to get the newer releases to coem to buy them. I can cancel at any time, but they have some good deals now and again that I use to get presents for birthdays and Christmas.
