| This LOST book is cool! It didn't take me very long to read this one! Finding LOST: The Unofficial Guide by Nikki Stafford. It covers the first two seasons of the show. (A new book, for Season 3 was just released.) It is not a summary of each episode, which I would kind of like to have, but I've already started on my own version of that, anyway, so it's okay. But there is so much stuff packed in here, it more than makes up for it. For each episode, she lists: - name of episode - original air date - Teleplay by, Story by, Directed by - Guest cast - who is featured in the flashback - a very brief (sometimes just one-sentence) synopsis of the episode - discussion of the episode. Sometimes this includes some summary obviously. But for the most part she is drawing parallels to other shows, books, Biblical references, etc. that you might not think about. Also analysis of the characters based on their actions in this particular episode. This is the main part of each episode's listings. - Highlight - something very funny or that left a big impression - Did You Notice? - things you might have missed, either important to the show or just really cool - Interesting Facts - things that tie in to the show somehow or behind-the-scenes info - Nitpick - things that bugged her, like something that didn't make any sense or things that are inconsistent. She admits many of these may be disproved or explained by later episodes. - Oops - things that are obviously mistakes (like continuity errors, etc.) that don't appear to be part of the storyline - 4 8 15 16 23 42 - Every instance of the numbers appearing in the episode, even those that don't appear to have any bearing on the "numbers" mystery. I think she's reaching on some of these, imho. - It's Just a Flesh Wound - every instance of a character being hurt or wounded - Lost in Translation - translates what the characters are saying when it's not subtitled during the broadcast - Any Questions? - questions that the viewer should be having after seeing the episode. Obviously many of these are answered as the show goes on. - Ashes to Ashes - her obituaries for the characters that die on the show - Music/Bands - list of all the music heard in the episode, including the CD it's on, if that disc is currently available. Interspersed throughout the "chapters" of the episodes, are articles about each of the regular cast members, theories about what's going on, summaries of books mentioned on the show and pictures. Also, she includes transcripts of the Others' whispers from the show, Sawyer's nicknames, and other interesting lists of recurring things like that. In the back are pictures and map locations of all places where the show has filmed, and a list of websites. Also, just to point out, there are tons of things she mentions about the episodes that I'd never noticed or heard being discussed, so now I have another excuse to pull out the DVDs and start watching again. Just thought I'd pass this along, it's (still) a long time until Season 4 starts. Thank goodness Amazon shipped her Season 3 book today, I'll have something else to do.
