Gone Baby Gone

We went to see it last night (I think it's a limited release--- around here it's mostly at the artsy theaters)--- Ben Affleck directed it, his brother Casey stars in it, and it was written by Dennis Lehane who wrote Mystic River. If anyone is thinking about seeing it--- it was excellent. Really really good. I wasn't sure how good it would be since it's Ben Affleck's first time directing---- but, I really thought it was great. So did Joe. Ben Affleck did an excellent job--- everyone in it was outstanding too. Really makes you think after. I loved Mystic River though, as well. Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Morgan Freeman were also in it. If you're looking for a comedy though... don't go see this. It's a heavy drama, like Mystic River. Maybe even more so. It's not for everyone. It's about the kidnapping of a 4year old girl. I think it was supposed to be released last summer, but they decided not to release it because of the girl missing in the UK--- I remember seeing on CNN that they didn't think it was appropriate to release at the time. I could be wrong though. But, if you are interested in seeing it---- it was one of those movies---- when it's over it takes you a minute to get up, you're sitting there like--- wow.

I remember feeling the same way after Mystic River--- but I know when I went to see that for a Moms night out, my friends yelled at me during the movie that it wasn't really a feel good movie (it was my pick)---- I guess it's another movie that's not for everyone. But, if you are thinking about seeing Gone Baby, Gone--- I thought it was outstanding. Ben Affleck also co-wrote the screenplay. I'm glad to see him having some success again--- I've been reading alot of reviews, and they're saying he really did a phenomenal job for his first time directing--- I'm happy, I love Ben.

Thanks for the review. I really loved Mystic River, so this one caught my eye.

Glad you both enjoyed the movie. I've enjoyed all of Dennis Lehane's books, I believe that was his first.

Thanks! I've been wanting to see it. Now I'll make sure I see it in the theatre.
