| ooh, you are right about the variety of tastes. I love seeing what everyone else listens to. My personal Christmas music taste is all over the place- from blues, rock, reggae, jazz, the standards and timewise, from the 50's to the present. Sarah/Dopeygirl beat me to Band Aid's "Do They Know it's Christmas." I was in college and working part time for Strawberries Records when that came out. It will always hold a very special place in my heart. I still have the 45 single of it. LOL I have a few others that I really love: Father Christmas - The Kinks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moHjJZBPYXI Warning- The quality of the video is poor, it's really old, has to be from the '70's. Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB1n3XGViOM Zat You, Santa Claus? - Buster Poindexter (aka David Johansen from the NYDolls) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bqdP6GuAvM There are several great versions of this song- Louis Armstrong & The Brian Setzer Orchestra, to name a few. AND, last but not least, a sentimental favorite since childhood: The Christmas Song - The late, great, Nat King Cole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cubgWvBfs24

YouTube - "Mary Did You Know" By Mark Lowry & Buddy Greene This isn't my favorite version of Mary Did You Know, but these are the men who wrote the song. YouTube - THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS John Denver and the Muppets Best version of this song ever!

| All mine are from an Australian Christmas institution. Because it's Summer here, we have a tradition of Carols By Candlelight services outdooors. The most famous one is held in Melbourne on Christmas Eve. It's attended by thousands of people and also televised. The songs chosen are traditional carols, Christmas songs and also 'inspirational' music that fits the season. Here are clips of the YouTube performances by my favourite artist. YouTube - Anthony Callea The Prayer Carols By Candlelight 2004 The Prayer - Anthony Callea (2004) YouTube - Anthony Callea & Sylvie Paldino - Grown Up Christmas List Grown-up Christmas List - Sylvie Paladino and Anthony Callea (2005) YouTube - Song Of Joy Anthony Callea Sylvie Paladino Song Of Joy Sylvie Paladino and Anthony Callea YouTube - Anthony Callea - The Christmas Song The Christmas Song - Anthony Callea (be warned - I absolutely love the Nat King Cole version mentioned above, but this is more jazz) YouTube - Anthony Callea & Lorin Nicholson SILENT NIGHT Silent Night - Lorin Nicholson on guitar and Anthony Callea singing (2006) YouTube - Anthony Callea Baby Please Come Home Baby Please Come Home - Anthony Callea I hope you like the clips and can see how wonerful the atmosphere is. I'm actually from the Uk and after a long time here I still miss the traditional Northern Hemisphere feeling, but this is something very special every year, even more so now that Anthony has become a special part of it. He's headlining this year so there will be more performances after Christmas Eve. Last edited by mairanya; 12-16-2007 at 02:44 AM.. Reason: typo |
