We saw the story on the morning news yesterday. I couldn't believe it -- what did this mom think she was teaching her daughter?

I can't believe someone would tell that kind of lie and involve a 6YO in it. It's disgraceful.

I don't think a 6 year old is capable of coming up with that idea, much less writing the 'story'. That mother has a screw loose- even if you didn't think the story needed to be true, would you really have your 6 year old write that her dad DIED in a WAR?? Wonder what the dad thinks about being offed in Iraq.

Personally speaking I am FURIOUS that the mother stooped that low! It's a mockery of all the men and women dying on the front lines for the exact freedom she is taking for granted!

They need to take those tickets away and make that mother send a formal apology to ALL servicemembers, past, present & future!!

DISGUSTING!!!!!1 How anyone could just calmly state that nobody told them it had to be true, and we did what we did to win? I agree, what kind of message is that sending. I am glad that they revoked the prize. Maybe the mother should be prosecuted for falsifying the entry. I bet the rules stated that it had to be an original essay by the child, not one dictated by the greedy mother. No pixies for her, only BOOOOOOS

That's what upset me most about this - we've gone to the funerals of a couple of friend's sons' who died in Iraq or Afganistan. Some of them had very small children - ones who will never know their fathers. Makes me angry that anyone would capitalize on it!!
That mother had to have known that if the child's essay was about the dad dying in Iraq, the kid would have a chance.

My dad told me about this the other day. How awful that the mom would do something so horrendous. I feel sorry for the little girl. It wasn't her fault, I'm sure. But the mom truly needs to be punished in some way. Starting with paying for the NEW winner to get her makeover at Libby Lu.

She should be ashamed of herself and what she is teaching her child. Glad the prize was revoked. Poor little girl though, I feel bad for her too.

Now that is truly a bad mom. And I don't get all the fuss over Hanna Montana. Shes kinda cute on the tv show--but so are lots of other obscure people. It is because her dad had one hit song years ago? Achy Breaky Heart???

I don't believe that the girl thought it all up by herself either. The whole thing is just disgraceful.
