| Spamalot was great! There were four of us, DH Paul, DSIL Bev, friend Bruce and me. We are all Python devotees, sharing a love for the absurdity, dementia, mischievousness and nothing-is-sacred outlook of Monty Python. At it's most basic level, it's a re-telling of The Quest for the Holy Grail. Add to that a nod to several Broadway musicals of the past, shake it all up and you have Spamalot. I can see why people who aren't fans of MP would still enjoy the show. The costumes and sets are dazzling, including a colorful Camelot castle that looks like a cross between the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella castle and a Vegas casino. The songs are funny and the dance numbers are amazing. In fact, one of my favorites was the opening number. We were suppose to go back to England, 935 or thereabouts, but due to a misunderstanding, we are brought back to Iceland. Men and women dressed as Icelanders in their country's native costumes, did one of the silliest dances I've ever seen. I couldn't stop laughing, even after the number ended. I tried to be quiet so as not to disturb anyone else, which caused tears of laughter to stream down and my shoulders to shake. Fans of the movie rest assured: many of the best gags and, more importantly, the spirit of the humor survive intact — from the sound of clopping coconuts to the Knights who say “Ni!” to the killer rabbit. If you do get a chance to see the show, and you buy your ticket at the box office, be sure to get seat D101 in the orchestra section if it's available. You won't be disappointed, trust me. To answer Molly's question: We saw the show in Boston, and I believe Clay Aiken is appearing in the New York show. Perhaps one of our New York Passporters can help answer your question. After the show, we went here: Finale Dessert Company Just click on any of the desserts and it will take you to a picture. The restaurant is called "Finale" and it started out as a business project at Harvard, I understand. Nothing could be more logical than stopping for a dessert after the theater. If you love dessert, this would be heaven for you. They are an artform, very pretty to look at, and some of the best desserts in Boston. Paul had gelato and sorbet, while Bev and I had the creme brulee. (Bruce had another engagement and unfortunately couldn't join us.) They also offer a light appetizer menu and incredibly delicious drinks.
