| LOST 01/31/08 Discussion *Spoilers* . . . . . . . . . . . . Oceanic Six?!?!?!? ![]() I felt the episode was a little slow, but still good...better than not having a new Lost episode that's for sure. I really can't wait to see what happens on the island to make Jack and Hurley become what they become. I think I like the flash forward concept.

| Ooooooo...I loved this one! My girls cried everytime they showed Charlie, but they felt better after he "appeared" to Hurley. The cabin scene was creepy. The girls were hiding their eyes during that one. Oceanic Six: So, we know 3 of them now. There are all kinds of spoilers out there, but I'm not telling! Can't wait for next week! I'm so glad that my show is back! |

| What a great show! I'm so glad Lost is back on. A few of my thoughts. Naomi - when she died, she told the guy on the phone, "Tell my sister I love her." I think this is code for "the survivors are going to be trouble." Hurley - why could the other patient see Charlie too? And how did Hurley get off the island if he initially went with Locke? And why did he see Jacob's cabin and then it disappeared - very creepy scenes. Oceanic 6 - We know Kate, Jack and Hurley make it off. Who do you think the other three are? I'm just guessing but I'll go with Sayid, Sun and Jin. I'm sure I'll think of more. Oh and where the heck are Walt and Michael?

| I think that Charlie was trying to tell Hurley that he needed to help someone. Could it be Claire and Aaron? Also - do you think that Jack and Kate are related somehow?????? If there were only 6 that got off of the island - are the others dead or are they still LOST?

| I'm thinking only six got off the island and the others are still there (for the most part...some may be dead). I also wondered how Hurley and Jack, that went separate ways, would have both been off the island. Somehow the groups must get muddled up again. I wish I'd been paying really good attention to the show, I think I'll have to sit down and really watch it again this weekend.

| I agree, I thought last night's episode was a little anti-climactic, but still, better than no episode at all! The scene when Locke came out of Jacob's cabin, and the cabin kept moving around was pretty intense. I liked that the episode centered around Hurley. I thought it was kind of sad that for once, the season opener wasn't about a new character. But I like how you don't really know who's driving around in the Camero until Hurley's fat little hands come poking out the window. I'm glad that Charlie is appearing in limited doses, and wasn't completely written off the show. I also wondered why he was seen by the other patient, but then I thought of some of Stephen King's works - he's always talking about how "crazies" can see the dead. I admit though, I kept waiting for Hurley's friend from the first time he was in the psych ward to show up (can't remember his name, but he was Charlotte's 2nd husband on Sex and the City). Ok, so here's my official belief/prediction for this season - I don't think the 6 make it off the island with Naomi's team. I believe Ben and Locke when they say that no good will come from these people. And I think that this season, we'll see the Survivors teaming up with the Others to "purge" these newbies from their island. I think we'll see a rescue team coming for the Survivors sent by Penny, or anyone else, now that the island is technically back on the radar (thanks to Charlie's work). I also think the big secret that Jack and Hurley are referring to (and Kate and Jack in season 3's finale) may have something to do with the fact that perhaps their rescue boat was only able to get 6 off the island, and for whatever reason, they told their rescuers that everyone else had died. Anywho, those are just some of my predictions for the way the season's going. I can't wait to hear what you guys think! Oooh! And here's a little food for thought - did anyone notice that in the opening scene - the car chase - a LOT of the background scenery and props looked EXACTLY like the things they use for background/scenery in the Light's Motor Action! Stunt Show at the 'Studios? I'm thinking specifically of the fruit pyramid, and the produce truck right at the beginning. Let me know what you guys think...but I literally replayed that scene 4 times, and came to the same conclusion that it wouldn't be such a stretch for them to film that chase scene in Orlando since ABC is owned by Disney.

| You're wondering if I told anyone - I think the Oceanic 6 agreed to not tell that there were other survivors left on the island. I think the "attorney" who visited Hurley is trying to find out if the others are still alive. Did you notice how Hurley lied to the officer about Ana Lucia? He can't tell anyone that there were other survivors except for the 6. Charlie's message to Hurley could mean that he needs to tell that there are others on the island. I don't think this group will get them off the island. I think they will be there for a while. The guy in the chair in Jacob's cabin looked a little bit like Christian Shepard. OMG how could he be Jacob?? Notice how Rose went with Jack, even though she doesn't want to leave the island because it healed her. She said, "I'm not going anywhere with that man", referring to Locke. I don't know if his murder of Naomi freaked her out or what.

I cannot believe you and I had the same thought about Jacob!!!!! I told DH that I thought Jacob's silhouette looked an awful lot like Jack's father!!!!!!!!! Very interesting! I was puzzled by Rose's decision not to go with Locke also...she has made it pretty clear in the past that she did not want to leave the island. Hmmmmm.... Hurley seems determined to keep anything about the other survivors mum, and he got wise to his visitor at the asylum rather quickly. I found it interesting that the visitor wanted to get him away from where he was, perhaps so that he and whomever he is working with can get Hurley to reveal what he knows? | |

| "My friend Carol" that I worked with last year, and would discuss LOST with, and have shared her insights with you previously, I only see her once a week now as she works in a different room now. Here's what I emailed her earlier today: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With all my reading on the internet, I pretty much knew most of what happened on the island, although when you think about it, not too much happened on the island. I knew about Locke and Jack heading up separate and opposing camps, although I was surprised to hear Locke decide to go live at the barracks, and I was surprised to hear Jack agree to let Ben go back to the barracks with them. I didn't know Naomi was going to die. I thought surely the island would heal her and she would be fine. I guess with two severe wounds so closely obtained it was too much for her? Or maybe she will be up walking around sometime in the future, like Mikhail when they left him for dead at the sonic fence came back when Naomi parachuted onto the island. The flashforward was cool and presented lots of questions. I knew it would be about Hurley, but I was surprised to see Charlie show up in a couple of visions. I think they made pretty clear that Charlie was just a vision, but what about the other guy, the one who said he was an attorney for Oceanic - don't you think he was a real person, since it was one of the nurses who said he was there to see Hurley. Apparently the "Oceanic 6" have this massive cover-up going on and have made a pact to never tell. Is it that they have told the world that they were the only ones left alive when they knew they weren't? And now the guilt of leaving everybody else behind is eating Jack up, and apparently it is getting to Hurley too. On-island Hurley said something about not wanting Charlie to die for nothing, but now something is really bothering him. It seems like Hurley's flashforward comes before Jack's flashforward we saw in the previous episode, where Jack is now obsessed with going back. Because right now he's telling Hurley that they're not going back. And I thought it was so cool that Hurley (on the island) stumbled across Jacob's cabin. And did you notice that after the lantern went out, he was able to see Jacob? Doesn't that mean that Hurley is "special"? Because Ben was so upset last season when Locke was able to hear Jacob that he ended up shooting Locke and leaving him for dead, and now Hurley was actually able to see him. Do you think, though, that Jacob was trying to hide from Hurley by extinguishing the lantern, or is that the only way to see him - with no light? I'm kind of hung up on Ben talking about how Jacob doesn't like technology of any type, although I don't think a lantern could be considered technology, I don't really know where I'm going with this, just rambling on ... I thought we were going to see more of the freighter people on this episode instead of just one fleeting glimpse of one guy at the end of the show. It will be interesting to see how these new people change up the relationships of the original survivors, pitting them against each other and everything. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, extra comments after reading your posts: I just think Rose is so used to relying on Jack, ever since they were on the plane together, they have had a nice relationship between them, and I think she is just sticking with what she knows. It didn't seem like there was that much discussion about the "not Penny's boat" comment between the two groups. Seems like Desmond who was down there with Charlie could have spoken up a bit more. I was expecting some sort of rationalization conversation about it, but it seems they made up their respective minds pretty quickly. Interesting about Jack's dad being in the cabin. Since his body has still not yet turned up on the island, that issue is still kind of hanging out there. I don't think Michael is showing up until the end of the 8th episode, I think that is going to be part of the mini-cliffhanger of this half of the season.

| DH and I both thought that it looked an awful lot like Jack's father sitting in "Jacob's" cabin. Also, the 6 are just those who left or were "taken" from the island, but I think all the others were/are still there.I also had a thought that maybe Charlie isn't really dead . . . we never actually SAW him die/his dead body/being buried like we have most of the others. Maybe he was able to swim out of the hole somehow.

| I totally forgot about this! While watching the recap show last night, I kept thinking to myself, Charlie is so small, couldn't he have fit through that window/porthole? One of the shots in particular with Charlie in front of it, it looked like there would have been plenty of room. I kind of doubt it, but with this show you never know what will happen next. That's why I love it!
