Definitely! Especially everything that happened at Space Mountain. I always assume that everything will be safe, but I guess I shouldn't assume things. | |

I was also shocked by the number and severity of injuries on Space Mountain, which we now consider a baby coaster (and one of my favorite rides) compared to the other stuff that's out there.

I had just gotten done chapter 8 last night and wow, I did not realize how many deaths at WDW there were. They can make an entire book from that. I would like to read more about that.

| I believe the Preview center got absorbed into another building project, but I suddenly can't remember what it was. I'll have to go back and look. I just finished the chapter with the reports of all the accidents, injuries and deaths and was intrigued by the fact that so many people had been hurt on Space Mountain! Eileen

| I was also shocked by the accidents on Space Mountain - but it seems like most of the other accidents and deaths were the people being really careless or stupid. Disney puts up those safety signs for a reason - not just to keep themselves from being sued! My favorite "scam" one was where that woman said that the hydrolaters went down so fast that her eardrums burst! I remember being there when I was young and knowing that they really didn't go down!! |

| Chapter 8 fascinated me as well. The deaths and injuries that occurred were very interesting. I was intrigued by the reports of Disney security taking the film from cameras that showed something unsavory happening at WDW> That kind of reminded me of a WDW version of Men in Black. (Would that make them Men in Ears?) I had to laugh at Hugh Hefner trying to enter MK with his female entourage. (Girls Next Door is one of my favorite shows to watch and I can just imagine all of them showing up to Magic Kingdom for the day.) I had never heard of Dayle Haddon, so I was a bit surprised to read that she was a former Disney starlet until she posed for Playboy. Although if that and the expose written about how out of touch WDW was with the real world and how "snookered" the people were to get Card Walker and the rest of the Disney heads going on Epcot, then good for Playboy! ( I had a chuckle at the fact that Disneyland Tokyo is basically just a bunch of clones of Disneyland and WDW rides and attractions. I liked the fact that they put Epcot first but then would just kind of give "cast offs" over to Tokyo. Like the one ride/attraction that they didn't have time to completely reconstruct, so they just took it from Disneyland and plopped it in Tokyo then built a new improved one for Disneyland. |

I loved the hydrolator scam too. I can't believe someone would be so stupid to try that. Jeez!

| I picked up the book The Other Boleyn Girl at the same time I bought Realityland. It isn't related to Disney but it does look good. The only thing is that it is kind of long and a period piece which might necessarily be of interest to a lot of people. I would be interested to see what everyone else suggests. |

| I just have to say how sad it was to read about everything that took place during the Eisner years. The fact that Disney used to be so loyal to its employees and value them, then suddenly that wasn't the case anymore. Also, the fact that Eisner only cared about getting as much money from people as possible and that he got rid of a lot of the charming touches and shops Walt put in for atmosphere because they weren't raking in the money.

| I agree with the thoughts on the Eisner years. I would have hated to go from a working enviroment that cared about me to one that just looked at the bottom line. I have to say that towards the end of the book I didn't feel like the author even really liked Disney. Did anyone else get that vibe? I just recently picked up a book called The Thirteenth Tale. It's kind of a mystery/intruiging (sp!) book. |
