| and for many more ![]() Okay now for a little side story, I actually spoke to her on the phone when she was the Ambassador to Czechslovakia. When Grumpy and I were stationed in Germany with the USAF. Ambassador Black would come to Grafenwoehr and stay the night in the suite at the Officer's Club. She would travel the next day to Prague, which was only 45 mins away from us. I worked for 7th Army Training Command in the General's Office. I picked up the phone and Ambassador Black was on the phone and asked to speak with the General, I told her he was not in and would she like to speak with the Chief of Staff, she said "yes please" after the Colonel spoke to her, he came to me and said "do you know who you were speaking to" I said "Yes Ambassador Black, Ambassador to Czechslovakia" He started to laugh , he said "No Shirley Temple" We were both laughing, I had forgotten that she was Shirley Temple This was her last trip to Grafenwoehr and she was thanking us for the use of the suite and keeping it hush hush that she was thereSo that is my brush with Fame that I will brag about

| Shirley! She and my Dad were born in the same year and when he told me that as a kid, I was dumbstruck.
