| "CARRIER" on PBS Well, as some of you know, my husband is in the Navy and partially based (with his squadron) on an aircraft carrier . . . so I think this show is pretty neat. It is a 10 part miniseries documentary on PBS about the USS Nimitz and their 2005 deployment to the Persian Gulf (something DH will be doing in September on another ship ). It pretty much shows the good and bad aspects of life on a carrier . . . some stuff about the Navy you probably wouldn't know unless you had done it yourself . . . lots of cool stuff. (For me, it kind of gives me a bit of insight into some things that DH may do onboard his own ship, since I was in the Navy myself but got out before I could be sent to a ship. The first 2 episodes were on last night, then they are showing back-to-back episodes every night through May 1st. Then on May 3rd, there will be an "all-day marathon" of sorts when they play all 10 episodes back to back. Definitely worth a watch. ![]() CARRIER | PBS ETA: I got pretty darn weepy in the beginning of the first episode where the families were dropping their sailors off and seeing the ship off. Having been there and done that a few times in my life with my DAD being the one going on those long 6-7 month deployments to now preparing to send DH off on one . . . ![]()

| I turned it on for my DH to watch last night. I didn't stay and watch. I'll have to ask him if he watched it at all (he was working on a take-home exam at the time).

| DW and I watched quite a bit last night. Amazing how the planes are constantly coming and going. The flight deck is certainly a very busy place.

| We caught part of it last night, and I thought of you, Sarah. It's gotta be hard sending them off like that. I loved the part where they were coming into port with all the sailors lining the deck. Awesome!

| I watched it too. I'm a sucker for the All Things US Navy because we live so close to the Naval Academy and my DBil was on the USS Carl Vinson out of Bremerton. PS And I watch every episode of JAG in the morning on The USA Channel and NCIS. Go Navy, Beat Army. |

| DVR'd this for DH. He served on a minesweeper when we were first married. Now he's still out at sea, but in the private sector, and closer to home. I knew he'd want to see this show! I saw some of it myself and it brought back those memories!

| I think this is the documentary that my Dad's company sponsored (CSC - Computer Science Corp.). I tried to watch as much as I could before I sort of dozed off.
