Thursday, May 1st – Neil Diamond Week

Brooke White! Twelve PassPorter players were able to predict her elimination: wvugrrrl, Shell_of_the_South, janicelovesmickey, goofysdtr (Heidi), Eeyoresmom (Tanya), loobyoxlip (Tina), PamelaK, whoSEZ (Sandy), Disneydiana, TMWIlson7196 (Teresa), bitterchickey and kmurburg (Karen). (Tina (loobyoxlip) has made correct predictions 2 weeks in a row!!) Way to go!

We had 34 PassPorter players this week!!! (up from 31!) 34 players is now the most we have had in our game over the past 2 season!!

Jason Castro received the majority of our “togo” vote with 15 (up from 2). Brooke White received 12 votes (down from 26). Syesha Mercado received 6 (up from 1) and Paula ( ) each received 1 vote. This week marks 5 weeks in a row that the Davids have not received any “to go” votes!

Our group’s overall favorite to win is still David Cook with 25 votes (up from 25). David Archuleta received 7 (up from 6). Syesha Mercado (up from 0) and Simon ( ) each received 1 vote. Brooke White and Jason Castro received 0 “Winning It All” votes. For the second week in a row, all idols received at least 1 blip on the PassPorter radar.

Good lord.

I figure I WON'T pick Brooke this week and peg her for next week instead . . . and this was her week.

Meh . . . Castro will go next week then.

I keep trying not to think of what happened with Chris Daughtry and what COULD happen with David Cook . . . but I think maybe the producers and such may have learned from that situation (read: very popular contestant = more money). I think they could make it work for Cook if he won . . . and I don't necessarily think he would be made to sing "American Idol winner's sappy song" like usual.


Next week should be a good one . . . "Songs that inspired Rock and Roll".

i was going to vote for brooke, but went with Syesha. I truly think David Archuletta will win - all the teens are voting for him. Chris Daughtry ended up with a great career by going early, I think David Cook will have a great career as well

I didn't pick Brooke to go but I'm so glad she did. What a strange reaction she had. I think it was partly relief because let's face it the not knowing has to be the worst part of the competition. I imagine every week is like going through a school yard pick.

My favorite part of the show: Simon's first crush on the phone. How cute!!!!
My least favorite part of the show: We stayed up to see Neil and then he sings a new song not a classic Neil Diamond. Bummer.

Gosh, I stink at this game. I haven't gotten one right since the first week.

I'm glad I was wrong about Syesha though, she definitely deserves to be in there still. Sad to be the only girl left.

When you see someone like Natasha Beddingfield sing on the same stage....you realize how much further these Idol candidates have to go to be really polished. Neil Diamond's new song was boring...I had to fast forward through it, as I did for the medley from the Idols at the beginning.....

I hope next week's shows are more interesting.

I felt bad for Brooke. She clearly would've liked to have sung her last song without crying through it.

Well, according to my 14 yr. old daughter, EVERYBODY loves Jason Castro, except her. So I'm wondering if the teens and tweens split their votes between Jason and David A., that could leave room for Syesha to make it another week. Can you imagine if Jason got enough votes to win? Simon would probably get up and walk out.

I still think David A. has the best voice, David Cook is the most marketable, Syesha should be getting her Broadway offers any day now, and Jason,....well, he just needs a good haircut and wash. My DD thinks if he cut his hair he would look like John Travolta. I like his voice too, but he REALLY should go next week!

Did anyone notice how they never said Brooke and Syesha were the bottom 2. Just said David C. was safe and had Brooke and Syesha come out. Never asked for a reaction from the judges on what they thought of the bottom 2... I think Syesha wasn't in the bottom. JMO.

Anyway, glad to see Brooke go!!

Jason is getting the "raging teenage hormone" vote. UGH....is it just me or does it always look a bit well....happy with help? Honestly this season I am only watching to see the judges comments....there is no one I REALLY love.

While I think these singers are much better than your average Joe, I agree with Tina that is a rather blah season. But for some reason, I keep watching. I do think I heard that the ratings have taken a hit this year.

This is the only season that I've basically watched the whole thing. I think mostly it's so I can come here and try my luck at this point. My fav is gone, my kid's fav is long gone, and DH couldn't give a hoot (but watches with me to be nice).

Not everybody loves Jason! My girls are 14 and 17 and they don't like Jason or David A. They love David C., just like their mom! I have raised them well.

DD(14) is a DCook fan too. I know know know Jason's getting worse, but those eyes...!!!!! I think Jason needs to do something quirky/unique this week to stay. Poor Syeshia, she's like the "pawn" from Big Brother every week, in the bottom two, just to see the other person go.
