No Country for Old Men ?

Who has seen this movie?

How in the heck did it get to be Best Picture for 2007? It has to be one of the worst movies we've ever seen. No redeeming value whatsoever. We were so angry to have wasted a good 2 1/2 hours watching it last night.

Anyone else concur with our take? Or can someone explain what was supposed to make it worthy of several Oscars?

I really liked it, though I like a lot of the Coen brothers' movies. They have an odd quality to them that I just really like.

HOWEVER . . . I really don't get the hype about it being the best movie ever and still don't understand the Oscars. : I think there were other movies a lot more deserving than No Country.

You either like the work of Joel and Ethan Coen, or you don't. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground with their films.

I have yet to see it, but I have enjoyed all of the other Coen brother films.

I think that is pretty much spot on, right there.

HM - my DS said exactly the same thing you did - he hated it. He said he especially hated the ending.

I also didn't get why it was best picture. It was gruesome. Isn't it based on a Cormac McCarthy book? He writes some somber, depressing stuff. Read The Road- much better than No Country and a good read.

I really HATED it....i usually give movies a fighting chance but i realllllly did not like the ending at all....i mean i thought that it had a great story line but i felt the ending really was awful*L* but i'm not sure why that was such a buzz at the oscars...Atonement really deserved the oscar!

I loved it up until the last 20 minutes or so which I found highly irritating.

I did rate the acting. The Oscar for Best Supporting Actor was well deserved - in my opinion anyway.
