I have a feeling LIZ enjoyed Italy more in many ways, though she seemed to have plenty of good times in India as well.

To me it seems that she, in many ways, did MORE soul searching in Italy. She asked LOTS of questions and seemed to have more upheaval in Italy, where, in India, she seemed to finalize alot and put things in perspective. Just a thought. I could be wrong. I have Friday brain.

Aug 2- Beads 73-81

Welcome to Indonesia!!!!

I thought we should do 9 beads a week so we finish on August 30th. Then we can start the next book club at the beginning of September without overlapping. Sound OK?

Looks like we have two others interested in The Last Lecture, so please chime in on that thread and let me know how you'd like the club set up. I still have to do my reading, but I'm going to finish it before I go back to Disney. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Carry on!

Beads 73-81

Bali has a much different feel than the other places, and the beads don't seem as split or as distinct from one another, so I'm just going to give my general impressions. PLEASE feel free to comment any way you like!

I LOVE the oopening line-"I've never had less of a plan in my life". What courage! What a free spirit! No wonder why so many jealous people complained and offered all sorts of criticisms. As for me, all I can say is WOW!

When Liz said "I'm the book writer" I thought of how very much I want to be able to say that some day.

I liked the concept of magic drawings. I think drawings or writings can help us focus our thoughts and intentions and, often, can help create great things by clarifying what we want.

I'm having fun in Bali. Hope you are too!

I just started India last night, and I am really enjoying it. Hopefully I will have a little time this week to get some more reading done.

BTW-I like the idea of reading The Last Lecture for the next book club selection.

I finished the book!!

Ok, I couldn't take it anymore. I had to finish!! I don't know which beads we are even on now, but I can't wait until everyone is done to discuss the ending

I just love how Liz gets to know all of these amazing characters everywhere she goes. Considering in the U.S. it seems like we are all so secluded from one another, many people don't even know their neighbors. But here she is traveling to these 3 very different countries, the last one with no plan, and yet she finds such great people along her journey that teach her and help her in so many ways.

Sandy I totally agree. These beads seem to flow in a more storylike fashion.

PLEASE feel free to comment any way you like!

I would love to do this type of trip someday. I'm not sure it would work with all destinations but any with a large number of English speaking natives would probably work.

When Liz said "I'm the book writer" I thought of how very much I want to be able to say that some day.

for that wish.

I liked the concept of magic drawings. I think drawings or writings can help us focus our thoughts and intentions and, often, can help create great things by clarifying what we want.

I believe in the theraputic aspects of free writing and have seen the healing power of art in abused children so a big AMEN to that point.

I'm having fun in Bali. Hope you are too!
Maybe my impression of Indonesia was tainted last time because I was in Jamaica while reading it. Now that I'm sitting in Michigan - I'm day dreaming of a visit to Bali. I've even found the perfect Villa Ubud.

I loved Sandy's reflections on Beads 73 - 81.

I'm enjoying Bali as well.

I've picked up some good ideas for my Meditation Room and my meditative practice.
First, I loved the sign on the shop "May peace prevail on earth." I may create some artwork along these lines for my room. and I loved loved loved Ketut Liyer's lesson just "sit and smile." I can do that! See I'm getting really good already.

I enjoyed the history lessons on Indonesia in these beads and am intrigued by the role this medicine man plays in their society. Very Interesting that he deals so much with life and death but doesn't know how old he is?

I am also happy to see that Liz's travels have manifested themselves in an outward sign of her happiness. Don't we all look prettier on the outside when we feel happy on the inside.

YAY!!! Good for you! Did you click on the link I posted earlier?? It has a photo of some people you might "know", but I can't tell you until everyone is finished reading. Shall we speed it up, ladies? I just got home from Disney and I seriously need a nap, but let me know if you just want to finish so we can start talking about how it ends!

I'm enjoying Bali so far too! I've enjoyed getting to know Ketut Liyer and learning about Bali. I don't have much to add to Sandy and Danell's reflections on these beads. Great thoughts ladies!

I have a freind who told me she married her Bali love interest and that is him. I don't have it 100% confirmed, but my friend went to their shop and spoke with them,so I'm thinking it is reliable.
