Welcome to Eat, Pray, Love Book Club!

We'll be starting a book club for Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. The book can be found in the best seller section of any book store. Anyone who is interested can sign in here and we'll start very shortly after people have their books. More info. to follow! Please let me know, everyone, when you have your books and when you'd like to get started.

The book is broken down into "beads" for sections. What is your opinion of reading one bead per week.?That is just a few pages, but it should help us stay together without pressure. If you think that is too slow, please let me know. I'm open for anything!

I may have to order mine from Amazon. The book store on base leaves a lot to b desired...and the closest good bookstore from here in Cambridge...about an hour's drive. I will order it today. Amazon is usually fast, but don't wait for me...I'll catch up. I can't wait...this will be fun.

Dianne, I'm so happy you found your way over here! Welcome! I know that the holiday week-end will be busy for alot of people.

Hi All,

I took another look at the book and, while it is broken down into "beads" (You'll have to get the book to see why!), there are 109 beads, so one bead a week would be a little long, I think. The whole book is a little over 300 pages, so each "bead" is maybe three pages. Once you start this book, it is HARD to put down, so I'm sure we could set a more ambitious schedule that to complete the book in two years!

I'm going to suggest that for June 1-7, we discuss beads 1, 2, 3 and 4. That is only about 10 pages of text. We can change or modify from there as we like.

Sound good?

I read this about 6 months ago and really enjoyed it. I've loaned out my copy but if I get it back in time I'd love to read again with a group. It is definitely a good fit for any book club read.

I just finshed reading this on my recent cruise. It is a wonderful book - expecially if you're at a transition period in your life. I'll join in when I can.

Hi Sara,
This will be my second time reading it for the book club. I am looking forward to it. I was rushing through the first time because I wanted to know how it all turned out. Hope you'll pop in and visit when we are up and running on June 1st!

Hi! For anyone joining us who may not be familiar with the guidelines, I've posted a link to this forum's policy below. Pretty straightforward stuff, I think. I'd like to start with the first reading discussion the week of June 1st. I'm excited to get the book out again!

I can't believe I was at Barnes and Noble today, and forgot to look for this book! I guess I was so caught up in finding the sequel to The Other Boleyn Girl that it slipped my mind! Now that means another trip to B&N. That is just the sacrifice that I'll have to make.....

Hi Vicky,
Welcome to our little group. I'm so happy you'll be joining us. This is the first time I'm trying an online book club with a message board. I've taught a few online college classes and, already, I get the feeling this is going to be MUCH more fun for me.
