Has Anyone Seen Hancock?

We had been looking forward to seeing Hancock but after checking out reviews from movie mom and EW decided against going to see it. Now I'd love to hear some reviews from y'all. Movie mom's suggestion was go see Ironman again. What do you think?

Considering my kids beg daily to watch Fresh Prince reruns until all hours of the night, we would see Hancock regardless of the reviews. But, we are trying to be frugal and have cut movie-going off our list for now. I hope some have seen it and can give their perspective.

DH and I just saw Hancock this evening. We both were really looking forward to seeing this one but both of us were really disappointed! It's so not what I expected!Definitely not a Will Smith movie that I would recommend even though we usually love his movies! My advice - go see Ironman again!

Thanks Kmurburg - I think we may just wait for video on this one. Kids are off to camp this week so DH and I hope to see Wanted. It's reviews have been stronger than Hancock.

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!! After thinking this would be the summer of disappointments (Indy, Happening) Hancock DELIVERED!!! Action, TONS of laughs, and some of the themes the other 2 I mentioned SHOULD have had!!! DD (14) her BFF (male-14), and my BFF (male-35) all laughed HARD out loud, and talked about it all the way home! The humor maybe is not for younger children, but that is for their parents to decide, it was fine for the 14 yr olds with me!

I posted this review on another board:

Will Smith once again hits paydirt with Hancock, an action-comedy about a sarcastic, abrasive, alchoholic superhero whose exploits usually cause more damage than they prevent.

Joining him in the cast are Jason Bateman, as an ad exec who tries to clean up Hancock's image after having his life saved by the boozing crusader, and Charlize Theron as Bateman's wife.

NOTE: The initial few trailers for this film made it look like a comedy. Recent trailers make it look more like a straight superhero action film. It is, in fact, an action comedy, with an atmosphere similar to some of Will Smith's other movies like the Bad Boys films, Independence Day, and the Men In Black films.

See it! And be prepared to laugh.

I'm so-so about it. I don't think the trailers were very truthful about it (but which ones are?). The scenes on the trailers mostly happen in the first twenty minutes of the film.
My DH and I went with our 2 youngest DDs (10 and 15), and DH's brother. None of thought it was great, but we liked it enough.

I'd either go see it at a matinee, or wait for the video. It won't be too long.

Anyway, if we all made decisions on what to see based on reviews.......
I say see something for yourself, and make up your own mind.

I'm glad to hear that some of you guys enjoyed this movie. Personally, I just didn't think there was enough substance - no real storyline, no genuine humor (a lot of disconnected one liners), didn't like the casting, etc. Our DS (age 22) also saw the movie after we did and he didn't like it either. I guess this is just going to be one you either really like or really don't like!

I'm looking forward to seeing it - looks like something that would be better appreciated on the 'big screen' to me for some reason, rather than at home on TV (of course, if you have a huge TV AND surround sound, I'm sure it will give that same effect).
