Robert Downey Jr

Ok people....what is it you like about him?

DH and I were watching him on one of the late night shows last week and we were not too impressed. In fact we were a bit appalled at some of the things he mentioned about his parenting and other life tidbits. I came away from it with a sour impression. I wish I could remember exactly what the things were that both DH and I talked about while watching.

Alot of the RDJ banter is just funnin' between Janice and I, I think.

I really enjoy his acting, mainly. To be honest, the way he played the character of Tony Stark really REALLY impressed me. OK, I know that is a comic book character! I also know the way he played the part was due to the director.

In real life, though, I do like that he cleaned up his act, it seems. I work with alot of clients who need to clean up their act, and it is always good to see success.

I can't wait to hear Janice's answer!

See what I mean!Hi Janice!

I have to agree that being a bit of a spaz is adorable in a man. Mel Gibson's characters were also my favorites.

I've got to run to Barnes and Noble now to get that magazine.

I'm with you. I've been trying to figure out the attraction. I just don't get it.

I have really liked all the movies I have seen him in back to Only You with Marissa Tomei. Yeah he's had his issues and he may not have "traditional" methods on things but I do think he's got his life into perspective and realizes how truly lucky he really is to be alive given all the stuff he put into his body and the benders he went on.

How about this movie he's in now, what's it called, Tropic Thunder? I don't see the need for that at all...

I think he's a good actor, and very good looking. Other than that, I'm not really impressed. But - I feel like that about almost any celebrity. I could care less about their personal life, as long as they are not touting illegal behaviors.

I've never been a fan of RDJ. I just saw him on the view, I enjoyed him talking about how his 14yo isn't too impressed with him being Iron Man (his friends will be playing Iron Man video games, and when dad comes in they ask him for sandwiches)-- that was kind of funny. I dont' think I've seen many of his movies--- the only ones I can think of are Soapdish and Home for the Holidays.

The fact that he experienced the trials and tribulations of life and still was able to pick himself up and nail Ironman. I never saw him as an action hero before. A pleasant change.

I always get "that" scene from Less Than Zero in my mind when I think of the RDJ. I was feeling really bad for him for a while, those mug shot eyes, the grip that drugs had over him. I thought it was really cool that he did Charlie Chaplin (but I haven't seen the whole movie) and I guess I like him, but only an inch over "take him or leave him."

Oh, wait...I LOVED him in Natural Born Killers...I forgot about that. Harrowing final scene!

I'm obsessed with RDJ, so probably not a good one to ask. My obsession started when he was on Ally McBeal (my senior year of high school/freshman year of college) - I then backtracked and watched all his movies and have followed his career the whole way around. I've been so disappointed in him before (when he fell off the wagon and ended up in jail, therefore losing his job on Ally McBeal), but he's really cleaned up his act and seems to enjoy a very settled home life. I think he's an amazingly talented actor (his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin was spellbinding, and Iron Man made me see a totally different, HOT side of him ) . Of course, the biggest factor into my crush is his devilish good looks. That combined with his little sexy quirks make me swoon. My brother-in-law gave me a pillow with his picture screen-printed on it, that's how much I loooove him. In fact, I once dated a guy only because he bore a strong resemblence with RDJ...didn't last long, as I soon discovered that what I had perceived to be some of those little "quirks" that I think are so cute with RDJ - were actually signs of an imbalanced psyche...but anyway.

I think it's just like any other preference - different strokes for different folks.

The first movie I saw him in was Heart & Souls. He was really good in that. I find his acting style to be to my liking; he makes it seem effortless.

I know he has a dark side, and he has overcome a lot. I appreciate his candidness about the hard times in his life.

Oh, and THOSE EYES of his are pretty awesome too!
