Do you read more then 1 book at a time?

I always have several books going at the same time. I've always been able to read several at a time.

Right now I have one going at work (alternate history) and at home I have 3 in progress, 2 Dragonlance and the other Christian historical fiction.

Yeah, I do. I think I'm used to it -- I did my undergrad, and went to grad school for history. There was so much reading to do (usually 4 books per class), and I quickly got used to reading 3 or 4 books at a time for my seminars, plus some light reading for my own sanity. Right now, I'm usually reading a non-fiction, a fiction and a nursing text book LOL, and a kids chapter book.

Right now, I'm reading Walt Disney's Biography, Little Earthquakes (Jen Weiner), and Clinical Drug Therapy for Nurses--- and, Aidan and I are reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume (I read it to him while the boys eat breakfast and lunch), and he reads the Magic Tree House books aloud to me

I do -- and it drives my DH and DS crazy!

I generally have one pile of "easy to put down" books on my bedside table. Then I have another pile of "to be devoured" books that I read during the summer on my sun porch. Then I have a pile of "should be read, they're good for you books" in my office.

I can easily read three or four books concurrently.

Not normally, the only way i can do that is if I am reading a biography or history type book (like 1776) and an easy fiction read.

This is a great topic! I liked what Eileen said. I never really thought about it, but I have those same piles of books. I have an entire room FULL floor to ceiling with bookshelves and each book is a treasure to me. About seven or eight of them find their way to my nightstand each week, and I pick up whichever fits my mood.

I always have several books going at once! Right now I am reading "Eat, Love, Pray, " "Anne of the Island" (part of the Anne of Green Gables series and "The Last Lecture." Give me a couple of weeks, and I will be reading several textbooks as well when I go back to school! I guess those will have to take priority, though!

Usually at least three. But when I worked at our local independent bookstore it was more in the range of 10 to 12.

Normally 2-5 are on my night stand. One may be a mystery, one a new release, and another may be on history, and of course a few that don't have my full attention but I refuse not to finish a book! I forced myself to read Grapes of Wrath and Catcher in the Rye as they are "classics" but found them horribly boring!!

During the summer, when school is out of session, I visit the library every Monday and Thursday... I get between 7-10 books...

So, yeah... I've always got a few going at the same time....

Now, ask me in two weeks, once school is in session --- the only thing I'll be reading are textbooks and students' papers!

Not really. I will often stop reading a book to read something else, then pick it up later. I'm doing that right now, actually. Picked up some books from the library and need to finish them first before I go back to the one I own.

Usually, but they're all for different purposes. I'm reading the Twilight series now, working on finishing the 5th Spiderwick with DD, and will start a read aloud with my class on Monday.
