Ok, I guess I missed it....but why was Porter's case dismissed? Is that whole thing just over w/the exception of Tom finding out about his neighbors involvement...

I didn't think much happened last night. I wasn't feeling any real excitement about any of the story lines but maybe I missed something.

Edie's husband is an absolute nutcase. DId you see how he snapped from smiling to holding Mike in clutch to smiling again? He's one of the sneakiest abusers I've ever seen!

I thought he was just scary looking from the first time he came on the screen. This is not so PC but its those pale eyes and the light hair, I dont know he kinda looks like an albino rabbit caught in the headlights. I think they are building up to something massive like the tornado. This season hasnt been my favorite at all. I want them to go back fiveyears not ahead!
I DO NOT like that Susan and Mike arent together makes me gag everytime he kisses Kathrine. I do like that Carlos has his sight back, and Gaby looked awsome as ususal in that red gown, when I grow up I want to look like that!! (So does DH)
I just cant figure out where this is all going, I hope to heavens they dont fast forward 5 years at the end of this season, I'm afraid I will have to revolt!

OOPs forgot to answer this.
They dismissed the case due to lack of evidence I believe. that whole thing just balloned and swelled and then dropped. That seems to be the resolution for everything this season. It builds up and you get all excited and then they just kinda take the easy solution out, or just let it drop.
Get it together boys!!!

That is kind of weird...it was such a big storyline to just go away. Desperate Housewives is just becoming the show that is on before Brothers & Sisters for me.

I'm really into it to see what psycho hubby does. He is one scary dude, and I am actually worried for Edie and everyone else.

I also love that Gabby is taking care of herself again.

I also noticed the whole Porter/nightclub fire/murder investigation thing seemed dropped in a hurry. I think it might have something to do with Gale Harold (Jackson) getting in a terrible motorcycle accident. Seeing as how he was locked in the bathroom by Dave, he would've been a credible witness...but since they were so quick to write him off the show (teaching an art class ), it makes me wonder if they didn't have something more planned for his character, and now they're scrambling to make up for it.

I really wish they would hurry up with the whole "Dave Williams is evil" thing. The producers keep drawing out his character (first threatening Mrs. McClusky, then murdering his doctor/starting the fire, now putting the death grip on Tom), but at the same time, they put like, 2 week interludes in between each of his shenanigans. I mean, if I lived on Wisteria Lane with a killer, I'd want to know what was going on with that person, rather than watch Gabby get in shape to fit into an old dress for 1/3 of the episoe.

Actually, I think the writers are pretty true to form in their depiction of that particular type of psycho. They are VERY charming and seem really normal to most people. Maybe they'll have the occasional outburst or action that makes someone think twice, but the time between the shenanigans is what makes people think they are normal. Remember when everyone thought he was such a great guy with the garage band and all his nice actions?

The minute Edie calls him on his manipulation, she is going to be in real danger, just like anyone else who he thinks he isn't in control of (Mrs. McKlusky, Tom, etc.)

BTW, if anyone out there thinks they are in the clutches of someone like him, I recommend any of the books by Patricia Evans on Power, Control and Abuse. Get them, read them REREAD them and be honest with yourself about what you see.

Yeh, I agree they are building up to something. THat same character played a pretty decent (though admittedly odd) character in the SCi-Fi series Tin Man.

Ya...this is what I'm saying. She looked great, but was that really a story?

I'm not liking Gabby's story right now. The message to me is that if you are poor and your husband is blind you have no reason to take care of yourself. Now that Carlos can see and has a good paying job all of a sudden she cares what she looks like. To me that just isn't and never was Gabby's personality.

Lisa - you and I so think alike! I thought of us when Edie really let her have it. I felt like Gabby got the message too. She was so nice to the seamstress. Maybe we can have a combination of good looking and nice Gabby for awhile.

It seems that a lot of storylines just ended the night of the fire, with no explanation -- in addition to Jackson's disappearance, which was at least explained a little on the show, Carlos's client who insinuated herself into the lives of Gabby and her family and Susan's daughter who was dating a much older man have not been mentioned since. I can't see how either of those would have been affected by Gale Harold's accident.

I do wonder what would have happened with Jackson if the actor hadn't been hurt -- I seem to remember at the time of the accident, the producers said that they had something big planned in an upcoming episode. That could have been the fire, but Jackson didn't play an essential role (someone else could easily have been trapped instead).
