| Don't really have a nightmare 1st date story. Just quite a few 1st dates that never evolved into 2nd dates. I started the book and have read a number of chapters, but have now mislaid the book. Update!!! - I DO have a Nightmare 1st date story!!! In college, I dated my DH for several months before he got cold feet and "took a break". He was a member of a fraternity on a college campus, known as the "party fraternity". While on this break, I gave in and agreed to go out with one of his fraternity brothers who had asked me out a number of times. He took me to see the original movie, Halloween. I had never been so scared by a movie (except now that I think about it, there was another 1st - and only - date with another one of those fraternity brothers over that next summer where he took me to see Alien and it gave me nightmares for a week!!! I kept seeing that alien baby's birth and waking up sweating!!). We went back to the Frat house where I shook for a solid hour. So both of my nightmare 1st dates - neither of which resulted in a 2nd date - involved horror movies that literally GAVE me nightmares!!! NOT a horror film fan!!!

Why do I feel like I am back in front of my college class. From my experience, losing your book usually involves a dog eating it, so you might check there! What a first date story! Sounds like you need to avoid scary movies.

| I love the way chapter two opens! You see Nina choking Shane in the background while Greg and Brooke are wondering what is going on! What a funny transition! I've been immersed in end-of-the-year billing, and trying to figure out how to help my private practice weather this down economy, and the little time I've taken to read this book has been such a breath of fresh air! I'm actually fascinated with the way this author creates an entire town with people who cross each other's paths on trains, in stores, and while choking someone in a boat on a river. I'm really curious how she keeps everything straight! FOr example, the writers of LOST sometimes give the impression that they are making things up as they go along, but this story-writer seems to have a plan for everyone several books ahead!

Reminds me of that song - Okay, so you've got a car that don't impress me much so you got the moves but have you got the touch...Did you tell him to hit the road? Quote:

But it is so funny how you REALLY had nightmarish first dates! Guess your DH didn't make the same mistake!! But I think he should do a Halloween marathon with you one day!

![]() Nightmare first date? I tell DH mine is hindsight! I should have ran away after our first date together! Would have saved me 30 years of being with the man! But let's see... The top prize would go to a kid (yup, only in Jr. High) I met at church. I'll call him Carl. My mom insisted we date at our home! We played cards, watched movies and made homemade pizza and some popcorn. It was okay, but he seemed to disappear to the necessity room a lot. So it was over...he went home and about 2 hours later, his mom called yelling! So Sandy, not nightmarish 1st dates???

But Carl admitted to searching our cupboards instead of being in the room of necessity. No kidding! He found a goldmine for a 9th grade, 15-year old! And the funny thing -- my parents didn't drink! They just stuffed the samples absent-mindedly away! Now, they'd probably be arrested!

| Hi all, would love to join this discussion. I got the book a week or so ago. Have been reading a little every night to decompress from studying. Definitely more entertaining than neurophysiology! I'm not sure that I've had any nightmare dates, but the weirdest one I had wasn't supposed to be a date at all. I was home from college for Christmas break and a friend invited me to go skiing one night (night skiing is big around here) with her and her boyfriend. They had also invited another friend who happened to be a guy. Well, after we had made plans, the weather forcast predicted temps of -10 or so with wind chills of -25. My friend and her bf decided not to go, but being a die hard skiier at the time, I was still game as was their other friend. So we skied in the bitter cold and afterward went to meet our friends. On the way there, the guy's car RAN OUT OF GAS! Can you believe it?! 10:00 on a bitter cold night in a deserted area and we ran out of gas. We walked to the nearest house and the lady reluctantly handed her phone out the door to us (yes, this was back in the day before cell phones). Well, my father had to come rescue us. Let me tell you, he wasn't thrilled. I'm surprised he didn't run the poor guy out of town with a shot gun! Well, this was 21 years ago and we've now been happily married for almost 18. Now that we have teens of our own, I can understand how my dad felt. If this ever happened to DD15, I'd be freaking out!

I'm enjoying the way Nina is really resisting the fact that she did not get the Inn. Life is so much harder when we resist! I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of the romantic predictability in these books, but I understand that is the formula for the genre. I DO love the way there are always interesting hurdles to be jumped, and I do love the way the characters develop. I just don't think it is realistic, though, that I feel quite certain already that this story is going to end with another engagement ring. (Let's see if I'm wrong!) OKKKKKKKK, who found the Disney reference in Chapter 3????????????????????

Sure, ran out of gas! Very Quote:
And - saw the Disney reference! Jenny must have looked beautiful! I'm up to Chapter 23. It's so easy to read once I sit down and start.
