I think you hit the nail on the head! These tend to be really cute stories that are easy to read, though I am not often working hard to stay up because I HAVE to find out what happens.

Interesting thoughts! That is an area I don't have much real-life info on. I imagine that must be a long-shot, though.

It did seem a bit unrealistic that Daisy could decide to just go off with a newborn and continue to pursue the things she wanted with hardly a pause.

The other book I brought to Key Largo is Elizbeth Gilbert's Stern Men. It is such a switch from the folks at Avalon, that I just keep thinking "These are such STRANGE people." Well, OK, they ARE strange people, but since I've been reading The Lakeshore Chronicles for our book discussions, I'm kind-of getting used to visiting Camp Kioga, Zuzu's Petals, Skye River Bakery, and the glimpsing old friendly acquaintances I've made in Avalon.

With Stern Men I feel a little lost in this stange lobster-fishing village where I don't know my way around!

This part is a little close to home.....my mom is in this exact situation right now (not that she didn't walk into it herself and we helped get her out of it at one point and she went back)....she is under his roof and tangled in our family business so much so that she can't get out without losing everything so she stays even though he is abusive.

Oh, Tricia, I am so sorry to hear that! It is horrible to go through but, from what I hear, it is even worse to watch someone you love go through it if they can't get out.

I hope things go well for your mom!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's realtionship. How terrible for her to be in that type of relationship and for you to have to sit back and watch without being able to change anything.

Long time no see!!!!!

I unitentially (thank u Sandra for the Susan Wiggs addiction) managed to stay up to date with the book club without actually being with the book club in a couple months!!! ( I actually bought the entire lakeside chronicles after I read Fireside with this group) and I am jumping over to the snowfall thread now

Sorry to contribute to your addiction. I don't think you are the only one who has that problem now.
