| True Blood- Book vs. TV Show- Spoilers!!!! . .. ... ..... .......... ....................... .................................... .................................................. .... .................................................. .................. Ok, I'm starting to get peeved. I know that the show has always been different from the books. What upsets me is how the tv show is portraying Bill and Eric. I am really upset that they had Eric call Lorena to Dallas. When Sookie finds out that it was Eric who did this she is going to be mad at him. I liked it better when Bill went to her of his own free will. It's like they are making Bill out to be this wonderful guy when you know what he did to Sookie! And why did they have to do this at Eric's expense? Now Sookie will always hold this against Eric and their future relationship will have this hanging over them. I am not happy.. And what was up with the flashback last week from the 1920's party? !

| Have not got to read the books myself but my sons godfathers have and told me all about them and I totally agree with you on the whole bill/sookie/eric thing I think if they're going to pick and choose things from the book to stay true to the should stay true the whole way through |

| i was actually just telling my boyfriend the other night how i'm not too happy with the way the eric/bill relationship comes off on the show. granted they didn't really seem like friends in the books, but they definitely didn't have the hostility that there is in the show. it's been such a long time since i read the first two books (i began reading the series in 10th grade, so that was... 2004/2005?) that i don't really remember much other then general details, so most of the other stuff that's been wrong, i haven't even noticed. i've thought about going back and re-reading them but i don't want to do that and then just be disappointed in the show because i love the books so much.

| I think the whole thing is gonna take a turn around. Eric I think will become more gentle and a good guy and Bill will be the bad guy before the end of the season. As you know in the books Bill takes off to Peru, because Lorena "called" him back. I still think Lorena will take Bill away from Sookie and Good ole Eric is gonna take up the slack. Thats the only way I can see this thing playing out with LODI. In the books isnt that when things went sour with Bill and Sookie anyway??

| I like that they are straying from the books to an extent. Spolier alert! .... ...... ......... .................... '''''''''''''' .................................................. ..................... I'm not real jazed by the the Maryann storyline. I think they had one too many "zombie " orgy scenes. I never though orgies could be boring. lol In the book she is much more feral and wild. I do wish that they would bring in Bubba. I know that there would be copyright issues of some sort being he is suppose to be Elvis. Maybe show his shadows or something (like the Home Improvement neighbor). I would love to see a triangle with Eric. In the books I liked her better with Eric.

| I didn't read the first TB book & kinda glad I didn't. I've read the 2nd & halfway through the 3rd book. I have always been a read the book before you see the movie person, (Chronicals of Narnia, HP, Vampire Chronicals & Twilight Series) but I kinda wish I hadn't started to read the Sookie Stackhouse Books. I really love TB, but the show is soooo different from the books I just get frustrated. I like the storylines in the book much better than the TB storylines, but that's just me.

| HATE the Maryann character in the tv show--agreed the zombie orgies are like de rigeur now, " oh look another orgy" yay. Just getting ridonkulous. I see the Vampire Queen is being brought into the show within the next 2 weeks...lets see how they deal with that... Although I'm not likin the whole Evil Eric stance (luv me some Eric!), OMG has he had some HI-larious lines this season!!! (my fave Eric scene--him getting highlights!!) Waiting to see how they handle the amnesia storyline... |

| I'm going to stray from the general consensus here - I think that they've done a really good job keeping the books and the show "separate but equal," so to speak. I like that the books set the template, but the show has the freedom to expand certain characters (Tara and Lafayette, for example, who were made such major characters because the actors portraying them became so popular). I think part of the reason that they're dragging out the "good Bill" story line is because otherwise, he'd disappear almost completely - he would become to True Blood what Eric was in the first season - just a marginal character - if we were going off of what the books set up. I doubt Stephan Moyer would've signed up for the show if they'd said, "Ok, you're going to be a major character in the first season, but by the second season we're going to make plans to write you off." Similarly, I'm sure they hooked Alexandar Skaarsgard by saying, "You're going to be very marginal this first season, but we're going to expand your role thru the second and future seasons." Trust me, no one's looking more forward to a "Team Eric" storyline, but I totally get why they're not pushing Bill out of the picture completely. But I do agree with you both, guitardiva and bitterchickey - the zombie orgy thing is getting really old. It's like, "Oh good. More crazy sex and lots of boobs. Like we haven't seen that before!" (You know it's getting overplayed when even my DH is like, "OH GAWD, THIS AGAIN?!") I DO like the Hoyt/Jessica storyline. I was soooo prepared for her to be the most annoying character ever; but I'm very happy with the direction they've gone with this (although I wonder when they're going to get a break, already! )

| You are so right Molly--I completely forgot to even mention the Hoyt/Jessica thing--LOVE THAT! And yea, I'm not opposed to them dragging out "good Bill" (selfishly, cause I'm wanting more smartazzy Eric around!). And love that Lafayette does get to live, and has his new "connection" to Eric...that character/actor did deserve a better fate than the books gave him. Waiting for the grand return to Bon Temps tomorrow night... Do you guys (Molly) get to see any of the filming? Are they still doing it in and around Shreveport? We go to a Band Festival w/ dd later this year around there and believe me there are more than a few girls who are looking forward to doing some stalking... |

| When you do, Janell, just think of the show as "BASED" on the books, not a literal interpretation of them. Almost like the same characters in different adventures. |

| What did you think about the final episode? I hated the fact that Jason was able to turn into a Zombie. I started scraming "plot hole" at the TV. Here's what Alan Ball had to say about it: "Why wasn’t Sookie susceptible to Maryann’s powers but Jason was? Do they have different parents? Ball: They have the same parents. We will find out what Sookie is (next season). There are such things as dominant and recessive genes. Maybe Jason is fundamentally human but he has a trace of some non-human stuff. He’s kind of a ridiculously perfect (human being). He’s athletic and has that charisma thing, so maybe he had some help in that regard. (Laughs) Ultimately, if you look at percentages, he’s mostly human. Sookie has a stronger genetic predisposition in another direction. People who have read the books know exactly what I’m talking about. People who haven’t, it will be" Alan Ball answers ‘True Blood’ finale questions- msnbc.com
