| I saw it last week. My review of it is a little different than what most of the critics are saying - I really, really was impressed by the direction and general cinematography of the movie. It's truly unlike any movie that's ever been made (IMHO). However, I thought the story was a little lacking - for a movie that takes place over a...72(?)-hour period, they're clearly expecting you to become emotionally attached to Wikis and the main "Prawn," yet the documentary-style of the film, interspersed with the very short time-frame, doesn't really allow you to truly "feel" for the main characters. It's still an interesting story, but I don't think I'm fawning over it as much as the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. I do recommend everyone go see it though - for the simple fact that its sheer uniqueness in the film making-genre is probably going to knock your socks off!

| Molly, that was a great review! FOr the first part of the movie, I thought it was the wierdest thing I'd ever seen. I was pretty unimpressed. What surprised me was that, as the story progressed, I really came to care about the Alpha Prawn, his son (especially) and Wikis. I really was on the edge of my seat for a few moments, at least. It truly was one of the strangest movies I've ever seen. Maybe that was British Sci Fi, the way British humor is also different in an interesting way.

| Going to see it tomorrow--hey I'm happy as long as a movie has aliens, explosions, and the threat of world annhilation, oh and as long as Sandra Bullock isn't in it. (ok that's just cause she represents the "girly" movies I so hate) |

There is one sort-of ditsy broad-type in the movie, but I warmed up to her at the very end. Pay attention to what the ditsy broad says at the very end, then watch closely. It almost made me cry. Others were already leaving, and missed what I thought was the best part.

| We saw this movie...my DH enjoyed it but I had a hard time with it. I took more of a reality look at it, would our governments or the UN have a district 9 in the first place type of view of it and I spoiled the movie for myself. It is a sci-fi flick and I didn't let it be one in my mind, unfortunately.

| DH and I saw it last week and enjoyed it very much. I think I liked it more than he did. I thought it was original and thought provoking. I read that District 9 is an allegory (is this the right word?) for the racism in South Africa, as the director is S. African. It's always fun when a "small" movie without big names attached (except Peter Jackson) does well. I liked Wikus, Christopher (main "prawn") and especially his son the young prawn. And I look forward to a sequel! Beth

| i really, really liked it. i think a huge reason i liked it was because going into it, i had absolutely no idea what it was about other than it was a different take on aliens. i had heard that it was supposed to be filmed in a style similar to that of last summer's cloverfield so that's what peaked my interest in it. i was not disappointed!
