| Life on Mars Has anyone been watching this? I don't know if it aired ages ago in the States, but we only just had it start a week or so ago over here and we're watching it with interest, having seen the original BBC series a few years ago. So far, it seems fairly faithful to the original in terms of character and plot. I must admit that we're not warming to Harvey Keitel's character, in the way we did with the original series though, although all the other characters seem great. And of course, some of the changes through the years are a bit lost on us, as neither of us first went to the US until the early 80s. The bit that struck me was the World Trade Center. They had to put some of those shots in, but it still struck us as very brave and it really did break my heart to see it standing there intact. Any thoughts on this series?

| I think it ran here from last October through this past April then got canceled. Of course, it was taken off the air right when I was starting to "get it" a bit more. Harvey Keitel was just a bit too TV unfriendly for my tastes . . . he really didn't seem to fit into the role as well, IMO. I also couldn't seem to NOT think of him in some of his movie roles. ![]()

| It actually really did get great reviews, but the viewership just fell flat. ![]()

| I haven't watched the US one but I just put the BBC on my Netflix list. I love John Simms(Sim?). First saw him in State of Play. I don't actually watch tv, I wait and get shows on Netflix as I can't stand commercials. I watch lots of BBC shows. Just curious, do you ever have to put close-captioning on when you watch American shows? Sometimes I do to watch your shows. Especially if there is a strong Scottish accent. Of course the fact that I'm old and my hearing is going could have something to do with it. ![]()

: but I think we could do with it with some of our strong accents - as well the Scots, sometimes it's hard to understand the Brummie (Birmingham), Geordie (Newcastle) and Scouse (Liverpool) accents.

| I was completely emamored with this series. (I posted about it here: What do you think of Life on Mars?) It was cancelled, but the show did have an "end" eposide. I'm waiting for a DVD Box set of the UK/US shows together ... I'd love to see them side by side.
