Depends on if the cheapest theater has the movie we want...

If so, it's $6 before noon...$8 before 4...$12 after.
No deals on snacks.

If we have to go to the more expensive one:
$10 matinee, $15 otherwise
No deals on snacks.

And if that's not bad enough, the concessions are even more ridiculous.

I always said I would never be like my mom with her movie purse and candy from home, but that's what I do now--- I refuse to pay for those concessions. One tub of popcorn for sharing, I'll do, but we bring drinks and candy from home.

$10.25/adults, $7.50/kids. The last time I took the boys it cost $50. We splurged on popcorn and sodas. As a kid we could go all the time but not we don't even go once a month.

Our closest theater has a sign warning against bringing stuff in so they can kick you out if you are caught smuggling in snacks.

$8.50 here. We have 3 theaters, all owned by the same people, so they have total monopoly. No debit/credit, cash only, can't buy tickets online or ahead of time. It's like stepping back into time compared to other theaters I have been to in other cities. I always laugh during the pre show advertising slides when the one comes up that says "Thanks for choosing our theaters!" Yeah, like i have a choice!!!

Last time we went for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs the matinee was $10.00 for me and $8.00 for my grandson. The popcorn and soda is so outrageous that I refuse to buy it. We go for ice cream after the movie instead.

We have a cheapy theater that play 2nd run movies before they are released on video for .50- 2.00 We have an AMC that has the previously mentioned deal so we go the the Sunday AM matinee to see new releases for $5. I think the rest are running $6.50-$7 matinee and $8-$9 evening. We don't pay full price ever because we use the coupons in the Entertainment book.

$7.25 matinee/ $9.75 regular

Have no clue how much snacks are - I KNOW that the largest soda is $4.50 ish, and a SMALL nachos is about $6.00!
Usually for us, it's almost $40 for a movie and $50 for snacks. The kids are starting to see the sense of bringing our own candy - we still buy drinks there.

It's funny, I started bringing drinks for the kids when they were really little because they don't drink soda (not because I wont' allow it--- they hate the bubbles), and they don't like minute maid fruit punch or orange drink either-- they still don't. The water bottles you can buy there were just way too big for them--- when they were little it was hard for them to drink without spilling. I got so used to throwing some juice boxes in my bag-- now I also bring water bottles for DH and I--- that's a big money saver. I still buy the popcorn there though, because, bringing from home is not the same. I have to bring candy because of my son's food allergies (I order most of our candy from nut-free manufacturers, or have things that I know are safe that I get at BJs (ring pops, etc) and keep for special occasions-- but very little of the candy at the movies is safe. His only option there is usually twizzlers.. Our movie theaters have that sign (can't bring food)-- I never see it enforced, though. They don't check our bags.

That's what I've heard too, Janine!

They are $10 around here, but we always have coupons from the Entertainment book that bring it down to $7.50. (DS is now an "adult," but we can get a student rate if he remembers his school ID.)

We are also matinee-goers... I can't stand paying full price! (And we bring our own snacks because of our need to be gluten free.)
