Kingdom Keepers a hit!!

I bought my daughter the Kingdom Keepers books when I was in WDW in October. She just finished the first one tonight and she LOVED them!! She told me I need to start reading them right away!! It sucks because she can't use them for accelerated reading points!! Oh well, I am just happy she enjoyed it!!

I bought the first book a few weeks ago and LOVED it. DD wants to read it, but she needs to read a book or two for AR points first. She may read it on our way to Disney in a couple of weeks. I plan to pick up the second book before we leave.

What are these books? Are they good to read with a 5 year old?

Here is the link from Amazon, it's called Kingdom Keepers 2 Disney at Dawn

Amazon.com: Kingdom Keepers II: Disney At Dawn (9781423103653): Ridley Pearson: Books

Amazon also shows a third book coming out in April 2010

I would say not for a 5 year old. The story is a bit convoluted and dark -- and I say this as the mom of a kid who read the whole Harry Potter series on her own between kindergarten and 2nd grade.

I actually have held DD off the KK series because there's a reference in it to the tunnels and a "Cinderella" walking around in her makeup, jeans and a tank top. I think DD knows the characters aren't real, but she's never told me as much and I'm not bringing that subject up until she does!
