The race starts in Downtown LA. First thing the teams have to do is take public transportation to LAX. Not always easy to do. The first 3 teams will get on a plane to leave first to Chile. The rest get on a plane that leaves an hour later. So as the teams are waiting to board Carol and Brandy hope for mechanical failure on the first flight. Well they got their wish the plane was on delay so all 3 team got tickets on the second flight. In Chile The teams had to take a bus to Valparaiso. Jet and Cord had to re exchange their money before they could head out. I think they learned something.
Cable Walk
Inspired by the cloths lines around town, one team member has to walk a thin cable one football field length.
The ones who walked the line are: Caite, Jorden, Joe, Steve, Dan, Brandy,Shawne, Adrian, Louie, Cord and Shannon. Dan fell off and used his hands to walk the rest of the way. Brandy sat down on the wire for a bit and Adrian fell and had to be pulled back to the start.
From there they had to take a Funicular down to find the next clue. Brent and Caite walked down the mountain.
Paint the Town: The teams have to choose 4 paint cans and supplies and find the house of the same color and fill in the spot. Steve and Allie walked into a building and painted a wall only to find out the guys there didn't have a clue. They had to leave and find the right place. Those men had a good laugh.
Next they have to travel by foot to the pit stop for this leg. It is a 90 year old Chatu.
When Brent and Caite got it Phil told them the had a 30 min penalty for walking down the mountain.
Dan and Jorden got a 15 min penalty for loosening a paint brush.
But it was Adrian's fall that lost the race. He tried again to walk the wire and fell again. in the end Phil meet them and gave the bad news.
So next week teams work together in a not very nice way.
So till then Hold on to your paint brushes and ride that Funicular my racing peeps.
I wonder if Jordan realizes YET that she went to CHILE, not China! LOL. I was worried about my cowboys, they were in last place at one point. But they ended up 3rd! Yay. The cable walk would've been fun. I definitely would've done that. Cracking up when the brother kept reciting Caite's Teen USA 'africa and like the iraq and such as' speech. Even funnier that he knew it by heart! LOL

Picking up our Brasilian exchange student at the a/p
There were so many points in this first episode that just had me shaking my head. Going to China, Brazillian money, painting the INSIDE of a house...seriously, what kills me is that people are in such a hurry they don't read the CLUES!! lol I am kind of in love with the brothers though.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this season has the least smart people to date? DH was laughing at me because I was getting upset at the people putting the ladders around their necks and walking up the stairs. But really, if they tripped it could have broken their neck! That would not make for good TV...I'm just sayin!
Well, my teams out already. who to root for now... But I did enjoy the show and look forward to the rest of the season. Congrats to team Jeff and Jordan.
I have to agree that this group is the least prepared for the race that we've seen. So many really bad mistakes in the first episode. Lots of cringe-worthy moments. And two groups that had to take a penalty? Wow.
Some real dim bulbs this season...the girl who can't tell time on a clock "when people say "a quarter till' I am like, 'what time is that'?" and I cannot recall ever seeing not just one but two teams who had penalties the first day. SHEESH, it's going to be a looooong race!
You have got to be kidding me!! I thought being voted off 1st on Survivor was bad enough but now The Amazing Race too!! Geesh! Now I have to see who I'm going to route for
