Me, DS-17 and DD-29 say the Imax 3D version and all loved it. I agree with the tooth gap - it bugged me. I loved Anne's odd ways as the White Queen after all who in Wonderland is not a little left of normal?!?!? We were all bigs fans of the March Hare....."Spoon!". Who can blame ALice for wanting to escape her normal life. I think the movie would be fine for most school age children. To me the violence like in this movie is "unreal" (not sure if that works but can't come up with better). We allow children to play games where they shoot or blowup other characters yet we want to shield them from seeing good winning out over evil. I'm afraid I'm rather old school. Roadrunner and Bugs Bunny are not violent. Getting off soapbox now......sorry.

Reason: typo
I am a huge Johnny Depp fan and have to say that I was disappointed in the movie really. Nothing really stood out (except for it being in 3D and we saw in IMAX). The acting wasn't that great, the storyline disappointing. I just expected alot more from Tim Burton. And found Anne Hathaway's performance almost laughable, it was awful.
We saw Alice in Wonderland yesterday and I thought it was pretty good. I thought Johnny Depp had a very cool dance at the end! I thought that it was a cool movie and anyone who didn't see it should see it.
Went to see it last weekend and LOVED IT! My daughters (21 & 18) came with me and loved it also. The only disappointing character for me was the white queen. Some of the hand and body movements and dialogue were just awful. I love Anne Hathaway but her acting wasn't that great in this movie. IMO.
DD and I saw it twice. Once just the two of us and once with DBF. We all loved it. The second time we saw it I even caught a Hidden Mickey on a mushroom! LOL
I agree that Anne Hathaway's White Queen was a little out there. I mean who REALLY holds their hands up all the time like that???? But we still loved the movie.
Now that I read through this thread, I can see the Madonna in the Mad Hatter. Let us remember that Jack Sparrow's look was somewhat based on Keith Richards. Why not bad the Mad Hatter's on Madonna?
Oh and we also caught the Wonder reference at the end. I even commented to DBF that it might be a reference to the cruise ships, the wonder of Disney, or just Wonderland.
i am very surprised at everyone taking their kids. i most DEFINITELY would NOT be taking children to this movie and i believe every inch of that PG-13. maybe our kids are more used to violence than i care to believe. hey, i guess if it didn't give them nighmares or the eebie jeebies then that is great. i also loved it but do not think it is at all appropriate for kids. then again, i am not a mom...ha ha ha
Too violent even for tweens?
Alice in Wonderland?
Seriously??
...
Huh. While the Bandesnatch would certainly be very scary during his first appearance, and does injure Alice slightly ... and he finale with the Jabberwock is certainly not wee-kids' fare ... for the rest of the movie? I have to say, there was no more gaphic violence than a copy of Tom Sawyer sitting on someone's bookshelf, somewhere.
Personally, I think PG-13 is given, only because there's nothing between it, and "just" PG ... which too many parents take to mean "it's safe to switch your brain off, now", and treat like it's a G.

See, I thought she was really good and hilarious. I felt like she was kind of parodying Princesses - Disney ones in particular - with her movements....Or is that just me? Regardless, I thought she was kooky, but in a good way
