It's ironic, but I just checked my Facebook page and Benjamin Mee (who this story is about) is at my DS's college campus today (East Carolina Univ) and they are having a petting zoo, showings of the movie, a talk by him tonight, and he's lunching in the cafeteria so students can meet him. How I wish DD and I could be there today.
And I was going to read his book, but read reviews that said the actual story isn't quite as cute as the movie storyline, so I've decided to skip the book.
Thanks for the review. Our neighbors hated it, so we've given it a wide berth.
Glad to know it's worth investing the on-demand rental fee.
DD16 came home from seeing it at the movie theater last year and the first thing she said when she walked in the door was: We are going to buy the movie when its on DVD. High praise from her. (Easter Bunny brought it).

It's our family's new favorite movie. Good for all ages.
(I meant to post this a couple weeks ago).
I took my kids and a friend to this when it went to the discount theater. Omg ...I bawled during the entire movie...I could not control the waterworks. DS was embarassed by me. I will be looking to own this one...
Another positive review! It's certainly worth watching.
I was a little disappointed that it wasn't totally a true story. There were quite a few dramatic effects added/changed. Still better than most films lately!!
We loved it too! It has a little bit of an Easter Bunny spoiler but otherwise great for the whole family.
Yes..the Easter bunny spoiler made me cringe...I saw it in the theater with all three of my kids and a friend of my oldest. I think my younger kids ignored or did not catch it. I know my oldest reacted...he is ten. His friends are starting to talk about that stuff as silly. Hubby and I cannot figure out if he still believes or if he is just keeping up the act for us.
