I'm surprised no one has started a Dancing With the Stars thread yet.
I won't rehash the season so far, but I will say we're really liking the "dance offs" this season. It won't stop fans from keeping the worst dancer, but it should keep a really good one from being ousted.
Though my DD wondered -- in the prior seasons, the last two "in jeopardy" weren't necessarily the bottom two. Sometimes they picked the pairings for dramatic effect. So in the danceoffs, are they really the lowest overall scores?

I don't think the four in jeopardy are necessarily the bottom 4, but this week I think it might have been. I'm not really a fan of the dance off. I think the audience should have the say in who goes home, otherwise, what's the point of voting? I think they should do what American Idol does and give the judges one save per season.
And I have to agree that this week's dance off wasn't very fair. Honestly, a jive? Who do you think is going to have the better jive? I think it was a set up to get rid of Gladys. I also think that if Melissa ever gets to the dance off, it won't matter who she's up against, she'll lose. Melissa and Maks versus Kenny Mayne; I bet all three judges would go with Kenny Mayne just to get rid of Maks.

Originally, they always revealed the bottom two. Then it got switched to the "not neccessarily the bottom two" for several seasons. Now this season, when the two couples are left on stage, they are actually the two who polled the lowest votes.

I agree. I think they would get rid of Maks no matter who was against him. I am surprised he is still with the show after all the stuff he has had to endure.
I like Val and want to see more of him (that can be taken two ways LOL ), but you know what I mean.
Ugh, this show is one of those addictions I totally feel guilty about, but I keep coming back for more.
Anywho, I thought it was okay to have a Motown night that had the original artists performing the songs, but I felt that if they absolutely HAD to have Martha Reeves on, they could've done much better than to only have her perform one song, and to make her trademark song "Nowhere to Run" an instrumental version for the Motown Marathon was not cool at all.
Anyone see last nights show???? Poor Maks. Honestly, he comes up for judging and Carrie Ann hangs her head..really? Get over it. I feel sorry for him. They did well and the scores didn't reflect it. Like JoanneS had made a comment (not quoting here)that if Maks is in the dance off tonight, they will vote him off. If the 3 little pigs were up against him, he would still be voted off. No impartial judging there) Can't they see this and challenge her and the other judges on this being so blatant. And his dance group were given lower scores even though they did better and the judges liked it. What was up with that???
A very good show. I do like to see Val and hope we see him more and more. I like him Nice to see the shirts of the guys off too
I think it's time they address the issues with the judging. It is so obvious that the judges have favorites; this is not an impartial panel. I think Len is the most fair of the three. Let's face it; the audience tunes in to see the dancers, not the judges. Dump Carrie Ann and Bruno and replace them with two REAL judges, who offer helpful critiques and encouragement.

I TOTALLY TOTALLY agree 100%. You would think they would make some changes. It is time. We need fresh blood. Carrie Ann is really really getting to me and you can just see the disgust she has towards Maks (jealously-probably!). I hope they make some changes next season with the judges. It is time.

But they're supposed to judge the celebrity, not the pro. Maks may be a great dancer, but last week Melissa looked, well, awkward. Let's just say that the flip was not the best choreography choice. Just like Mark's scores often reflect that his choreography is more avant garde than the judges would like -- he knows it and keeps doing it anyway -- Maks and his partner will get lower scores if he pushes her beyond her skill set.
