Attention Harry Potter Fans...... According to this week's People Magazine (with Rosie O'Donnell) the fifth Harry Potter novel 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' may be ready by the holidays!! That's what JK Rowling said last week. The snippet can be found on page 22 in the Scoop section of the magazine. I hope it does come out soon! I can't wait!

Re: Attention Harry Potter Fans...... Get out of the city! That ROCKS! I just heard that she was "no where near ready" and suffering from "writer's block". THANKS for the scoopage!!

Re: Attention Harry Potter Fans...... Nope, no writers block! She said that one of the reasons for the hold up is that the book is 'huge', at least as big if not bigger than, the Goblet of Fire! She also said that she wanted to get away from the 'one book a year' cycle and that she felt like a hamster doing that! I am so excited!!! You're welcome for the scoop!! [ 10-01-2002, 03:42 PM: Message edited by: allysonh ]

Re: Attention Harry Potter Fans...... Don't get too excited folks! I read an extended interview with her last week, and she says the book has a "beginning, middle and end" but that she still has to tweak it. She just settled her plagiarism lawsuit last week (she was exonerated) and she said it took a huge load off her shoulders and that it had been distracting her from her writing. She also announced that she is pregnant with her 2nd child. Bloomsbury (her British publisher) has said that from the time she turns in the final draft it will take 3-5 months to get on the shelves. It has to be edited, typeset and printed; then distributed. Bloomsbury doesn't have it yet so...even if she turns it in tomorrow, it won't hit the shelves until Jan-March. And it's not like they're printing a 5,000 copy run of a 100 page book; this is a huge printing undertaking. Believe me, I work at Barnes & Noble and they are just waiting to be able to take pre-orders. My best educated guess it that it will be out between Easter & the end of school.

Re: Attention Harry Potter Fans...... We have been waiting a very long time for this 5th book! It would be wonderful it came out in December, but even Easter is sooner that previously announced! Harry Potter has been instrumental in jump starting young readers and disinterested ones. DS#2 had no interest in books whatsoever until Harry Potter came along. It was such a joy watching his appetite for reading grow. It has helped him overall with his school work. I have had many a discussion with people who oppose the series because of its "witchcraft" and "magical world". I respond by saying and what about Superman, Lord of the Rings, Mary Poppins and such. I have taught them the difference between fantasy and reality. The lines of communication are open so that they can discuss how they are being influenced by what they are reading. So I truly can say, I love Harry Potter and can't wait to buy my sons the next installment!
