Freaky Pink Floyd-Wizard of Oz Link

I may be a little behind on this news - that happens when you live in Nebraska. Anyway, this summer I heard about this odd link between the Wizard of Oz movie and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". Have you all heard about this? I guess this started surfacing around 1997. I decided to try this Sunday night and it really is wierd.

The premise is that if you play Pink Floyd's DSOTM CD while watching Wizard of Oz you'll notice uncanny coincidences in the timing. You need to start the CD right after the Lion roars the 3rd time to get the timing right.

A few examples:
1. When Dorothy is walking on top of the fence the line in the song talks about balancing.
2. When Dorothy is running inside before the tornado the singer is doing this kind of scream thing, but as soon as Dorothy is hit by the window the singer stops and is silent. Once Dorothy awakens the singer starts again.
3. The very first time the wicked witch appears the song says "Black".
4. The munchkins dance to the same tempo as the music on the CD.
5. When Dorothy knocks on the tin-man's heart you hear a heartbeat on the CD.

Ok, really, I am not smoking anything. (Although I'm sure the people who first figured this out were ). My DD#2 was totally freaked out by this, but DD#1 and I had fun watching and looking for things. Has anyone else done this? It might be a fun thing to do around Halloween.

Here's a couple of sites that discuss it:

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">LOL! Yes Patty, I've heard about this. Back in '97, or thereabouts, everyone was talking about it, especially on the radio. I remember my husband was interested in trying it, but I had no interest. I love the DSOTM album, and I love the Wizard of Oz. I don't know why I wasn't interested. As you said, it's probably a fun thing to do.

I heard about this a while ago, too. Never did try it (not a big Pink Floyd fan), but it is really interesting.

Anyone else out there tried it?

Wow - I guess the same thing happens when you are from Nebraska but live in Virginia - never heard of this until now!

I remember this, too; and yes we did try it out. Pretty cool stuff, but I can see why your daughter would get a bit freaked by it as one of the friends I was with was a bit taken aback by it as well.

Gee, what other things you dig up out there in the corn fields?

Well, there is a rumor that Elvis really isn't dead!!!!

And Steve, perhaps you didn't catch wind of this because you grew up in Nebraska. Maybe it still takes awhile for things to really sink in, no matter where you live. ???? Maybe???
