According to E Online- ABC has decided to move forward with 8 Simple Rules, however John Ritter's role will not be replaced or reprised.

Should be interesting and sad to see how this plays out.

They are going to show the 3 shows John did tape then there will be an hour special about them loosing the father. [img]graemlins/cry2.gif[/img] grab the kleenex everyone. [img]graemlins/cry2.gif[/img]

I read on Entertainment Weekly Online that they may bring on Henry Winkler, who was to guest star on the episode they were taping, as the kids' uncle. (hmmm, Uncle Fonzie?) IMO other acceptable Dad figures would be Harry Anderson or Patrick Duffy, but none of them would be as wacky as Ritter.

You know, I have never watched this show, although I always wanted to. Now I am sad that I won't get to see John Ritter in the future episodes. I wonder how successful the show will continue to be without him. He was definitely an asset to ABC. It will be interesting to see Henry Winkler in a different role, as he seemed to be pigeon-holed as Fonzie forever.

8 Simple rules was a great show, It always makes me laugh. It will be sad to see the show now without John Ritter in it, he was so great. I will still watch the show, but it will always seem like something is missing from the show.

Yes, it's sad that he passed but what a wonderful opportunity ABC has with showing what it's like to lose a parent and still move on with life.

8 Simple Rules was a very cute show. I did not think that they would continue without John. His passing has really shook me up as I was always a fan of his and it was so sudden and unexpected. I don't know if I can handle watching this season.

This is one of our favorite shows. DH was modeling raising DD after it! [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img] John Ritter will be sorely missed. I am happy to hear they will continue with the episodes they have taped already. It will be nice to get to appreciate his work.

Although I never watched this show I have to say both DH & I first response after the shock wore off was "Poor ABC, their one hit & this happens". It will be interesting to see how this plays out & if the show remains popular.

I feel terrible for John's family and friends, including those on the show. However, I don't think they should continue the show after they show the last three episodes they'd already filmed before he died.

I just think the show won't really work without him, considering his character was the main focus of the show. A guy who's taken time out of his previously prohibitive work schedule to raise his teens while his wife goes back to work. It seems it would be missing something essential without him, even if they brought on another strong male character.
