Re: Pan & Scan Thanks for the link! I am a firm opponent of P&S, and I am passionate in my attempts to urge everyone to learn to disrespect full-screen DVD movies. I usually only get a lot of "but there are those big black bars." To which I say, but there are those big beautiful sides to the screen!

Re: Pan & Scan Very interesting. DH always makes me buy widescreen if its available because he anticaptes having a bigger TV some day. We do like it a lot better than the fullscreen versions. BTW, my parents just learned about widescreen vs. full screen this summer when we installed a DVD player at their beach house and they rented a widescreen movie. My dad kept trying to adjust the picture to make those bars go away. My mom had to call me and I explained it to her.

Re: Pan & Scan It's really more a personal attachment after you've seen both kinds. Here's a link to one of my regularly visited websites that had an article. Pan and scan vs widescreen

Re: Pan & Scan I must admit that in the beginning I hated those bars at the top and bottom. Having read this info I'll be more likely to buy DVDs in wide screen format. DS has been telling me about the difference for about a year. Guess I'd better start listening to him.
