Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes Tonight at 8 p.m.: Trading Spaces: They Hated It! Tune in to TLC on Monday, September 29, for three very special episodes of Trading Spaces. Fans always ask what happens when a homeowner really doesn't like their room. Do they change it immediately? What was their true reaction, once the cameras stopped rolling? I can't wait to see these episodes. Everyone remembers the brown room with the fireplace and the homeowner leaving the room during the reveal and sobbing loudly in the next room? And who has seen Doug's song and dance commercial for this show? It is hilarious and so Doug! Sunday October 5, 8 pm, 2 hour special: Trading $paces: 100 Grand Can't wait to see what our designers can do with 100 Grand? This one does not appeal as much to me. I like to watch the show to see what the designers can do with a small budget, in a way inspiring regular folks to do it yourself and save $. Spending $100 grand on two rooms is not what the average person can spend.

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes Michelle, This is what I'll be watching tonight! I loved that Doug commercial! Do you think that's really him singing? He's so goodlooking, but he's nasty on the show sometimes!

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes Thanks for the reminder Michelle! DH and I laugh about "I hate brown!" all the time. We seriously thought she was going to knock out her neighbor! Haven't seen the Doug commercial, but I'm sure it'll be on tonight. I'm kind of interested in the 100 Grand show. Mostly because I'd like to see what the designer's "real" style and flair is... What if they didn't have to use MDF board or just slipcovers you know? I'm not sure I can watch it for 2 hours, but I'll flip around to see the before and afters. Thanks again!

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I kind of feel jipped by the shows. To me it was a pretext to get us to watch reruns and then at the very end 1-2 minutes of "they hated it". It's not what I expected or hoped for. I hope the 100,000 episode will rank better!

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I agree -- it wasn't what I expected. I thought they were going to devote a show to returning to some unhappy homeowners and seeing what they did with their rooms. The two-minute interviews at the end weren't very enlightening. The woman who cried over her covered-up fireplace still cracks me up. I can't believe how upset some people can get. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what they do with all that money on the 100 grand show. Should be interesting!

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I'm having my mom tape the $100 grand show for me. I don't get TLC and haven't seen Trading Spaces since they took TLC off my channel lineup 2 years ago

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I agree - I was totally bummed out when I realized I was watching reruns!! Boo TLC for tricking us! As far as the woman who didn't want her fireplace painted, I do want to add something I read on the Trading Spaces message boards. That woman wrote something about her experience that wasn't brought out in the show. To start with, that was not the room they wanted redone. When the TS crew got there, they could not do the room they wanted because of camera angles or something and suggested that room instead. So at the last minute they agreed to let them do that room. Also, during the taping she got some bad news that her grandmother or someone was critically ill and was very upset about that. And she said they taped her sobbing in the background and made it much louder and out of context. The first time I saw that episode I thought Doug was a real meanie. But this time I felt a little different. He did go out of his way not to paint the fireplace when they requested it. It would have been much easier to paint it than build that cover. I too hope the $100 grand episode is better than last night!

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes Hey....no one has mentioned the BLUE dining room in the third episode (new episode to me). It was horrendous. BUT, their redo was possibly even worse. And I wonder what happened with the candle sticks. They really do need a decorator to help them...just not the nutty guy who did it for TS. -HiddenMickey

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I was kind of disappointed too. I was hoping that they woudl have at least abbreviated the repeats and devoted more time to the reactions. That would have been better. So needless to say I didn't really watch much of the episodes and just tuned in at the end to hear the comments. Hey I wasn't going to miss any more of the Packer game than I had to.

Re: Trading Spaces fans: 2 "not to miss" episodes I was just watching the Today Show this morning and Matt Lauer was interviewing Doug and Laurie about the 100 Grand show. That looks like it will be really good. Each designer was given $50,000 to work with but they were still under the two day time constraints. Doug redid a kitchen/dining area and Laurie did a living room. These were actual major type remodels complete with new furnishings and appliances. There were a lot more people working on it from carpenters to electricians. They said that all of these people were paid for their work on the show--no freebies. It will be interesting to see if the rooms are spectacular considering the amount of money spent!
