Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I guess everyone's heard about Ashlee Simpson's affair on SNL. I found this article that quoted her father on the reasoning for the lip sync:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ashlee_simpson

This morning on the radio I heard Ashlee say she had no voice whatsoever that night, but I heard her talking on the show, so who knows?

She was supposed to be interviewed on the Today show today...I hear them say as I was leaving the house.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

Personally, after watching her MTV show, I can imagine that she lip-syncs quite often when performing. Her voice is very touchy and most of the time on her show, she sounded horrible and had to keep stopping and starting over during practises and recording sessions, because of voice breaks. It's too bad this happened to her though, and I feel bad for her. -HiddenMickey

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

Ashley seems like a great person and fun to hang out with. But I don't think she's a "singer". I do like her music but when she sings live you can really hear the difference between that and her album. I think this is probably going to be the end of her music career...but she can defintely come back to seventh heaven.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I watched the SNL before I heard all the media hype (I tape it and watch it the next morning). I also watched the her on TODAY show this morning and she mentioned that she was singing along with the tape. From what I observed and heard it did seem more like lip synching then singing along. Also if she was singing along way was her mic not open? Very strange. I never liked Ashlee Simpson for various reasons. Jessica has a wonderful voice and Ashlee’s is ummm...well...not like Jessica's. JMHO.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

Actually, a lot of pop singers lip synch for their shows. It's really sad when it's so obvious, though. I know I was at the Hilary Duff concert and she lip synched the whole thing. She would run around on stage while she was singing and then be all out of breath when she'd talk then start singing again just fine.

I guess that's why I'm more of a country music fan. The singers can really sing.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I guess I never even realized she had a single out?!? I listen to country music, too, so I'm not up on this stuff. I happened to have some music awards show on last night in the background, though. And when she came to sing the music started playing, then stopped and she said 'IT'S THE WRONG SONG!! ... JUST KIDDING, YOU GUYS!'. At least she can make fun of herself. I think her fans, whoever they are, will not hold this against her.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I am wondering what all that weird hopping around was all about . . . just made it a little more obvious and awkward!!!

Notice how her band seemed like they were trying not to laugh, though!!!

Her voice seemed just fine at the end of the show . . . I would like the hear her OWN take on what happened, instead of her being fed what to say by her father!!!

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I feel really bad for her. I can imagine that performers have to use back up sometimes. Their voices can't always be in top form. And if you really think about it, their music always sounds different when it's recorded in a studio. There are so many things they do to make the music sound perfect when it really isn't. Also part of the fun is to watch these people perform (run around on stage, dance, etc...) I imagine they do get out of breath and use some back up music. I really do not think that it's that big a deal.

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

Hey, I was at SNL that night since my dad works at NBC and I wanted to go meet Jude Law (I had gone during rehearsals but he wasn't there at that time so for the show - he's CUTE in person, lol!) and Ashlee was crying hysterically backstage. Everyone already knew she lip-synched duirng all of her shows so I don't see what the big deal was. Pop singers these days ALWAYS lip synch and it'snot cool but what can ya do. I don't feel bad..I mean, what did she expect lip synching on live TV??? Britney, JLO, Madonna and Janet Jackson were just lucky to get away with it on SNL! And after hearing Ashlee sing live on the Radio Music Awards - she should have stuck to the lip-synching, lol!

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I'm feeling snarky today, but you'd think if she was going to lip-synch everything they'd have picked a better voice for her to mouth the words to!

Sorry! Not a Simpson fan (Ashlee or Jessica) at all. Their voices both grate all over my nerves.

I seriously don't see what the big deal is though-- did ANYONE think that she (or most of the pop singers these days) actually sang live? You could kind of already tell, you know, and as long as the show's entertaining people they're doing their jobs. The incident did bring up memories of Milli Vanilli!

If reflux really did that much damage to her voice like her father said, I hope she's being treated for it--it must be painful! I know Justin from The Darkness had surgery to help his reflux because it was affecting his voice, and he DOES sing live.

It's cool that you got to see SNL and to meet Jude Law!

Re: Ashlee Simpson - lip synch?

I've heard at concerts bands/singers may lip synch a few songs, because a 2hour show is just too hard on the voice. But, she only had 2 songs. She talked at the end of the show-- so how could she say she had absolutely no voice. I love her single, but I'm not a fan of Ashlee Simpson. I think she's riding Jessica's coat tales and then wants to be the "anti-Jessica" which kind of annoys me because I doubt she'd have much success if she wasn't Jessica's sister. I feel stupid writing this lol!! I'm a 30 year old, I never even knew who Jessica Simpson was until Newlyweds came on, and now I absolutely love her!!

I think this is so hilarious. I can't stand her or her sister and now they are just such a joke.
