Re: Into the West I saw part of it Fri night and had a hard time getting into it. I think it was because I was busy and could not just pay attention. I watched the whole thing on Sunday night and enjoyed it a lot more. I can't wait to find out where Loved By the Buffalo was heading off to! EDIT: I will ahve to say some of the special effects are kinda cheesy. That scene during the buffalo stampede where White Feather is facing the buffalo that stopped in front of him reminded me too much of that commercial w/ Jessica Simpson and the buffalo wings where she was talking to the buffalo - LOL!

Re: Into the West I agree with everyone... I LOVE these types of movies! The Last of the Mohicans and Cold Mountain are two of my favorites When I start college in the fall I will also be an elementary education major with a concentration in American History. I was so excited for this movie, but after the first half hour we changed it. It just wasn't interesting and seemed to DRAAAGGGG OOOONNNNN... I could't get into it! ![]()

Re: Into the West My feeling about last weekend's show was this.... They are trying to put too much of history into one/two family's experiences. I'm absolutely sure most of what we saw happened out west, but to one family? Nope. I was so sad that the women had such a hard time in last week's episode. It really amazes me that people went through all that for a "better" life. My DH said, it is sad that people passed up so much wonderful territory all for the word that California was the place to go. They could have found a good life in many of the places they passed. They bit with part of the Lakota group going to the fort and eventually coming back was interesting. It was a bit I didn't know anything about. But I thought they made it hard to follow. And what was the deal with Loved By The Buffalo. Is he dead? Or does he just live by the "wheel" now? Thanks for bringing this up again. I should have talked about it earlier this week. -HiddenMickey

Re: Into the West Hidden Mickey, did you watch this past weekend's episode? I think I've gotten more into the characters, but there is still something not quite right with the show as a whole. And some characters have completely droppped off the radar. I didn't see the very beginning, but what happened to Jacob's cousin who was taken by the Indians and then married one and had a baby? I was glad Jacob reunited with his wife, but I thought it was stupid that he didn't show himself the first time he saw them. And I bet the "gold fever" was probably true, greed makes people do strange things. Overall, it was better, but still not a great show.

Re: Into the West I was so mad...I missed it. My DD got me watching Jurassic Park early on Saturday night and since we still had Sunday, I didn't change over to In the West. But, I had forgotten we had a dinner scheduled for my niece's 25th birthday....didn't get home until 9:30!! So I take it his daughter found him and reunited him with his wife (wasn't she "married" to someone else)? And they didn't do anything with the girl who was kidnapped? Which characters went gold-rushing? I'm going to feel all disjointed this weekend having missed it. -HiddenMickey

Re: Into the West Yes, the daughter went looking for him. She asked around the military camps and nearly got attacked. A photographer came to her rescue and they fell in love and got married. So they somehow found her father (can't remember how) and he came back. In the meantime, his cousin or brother (Jeb?) that took the family on to Cal. got gold fever and spent all his time panning instead of taking care of the family. He started drinking too much and abused one of the sons who ran away from home. Then another cousin came and they went into halvers in the panning. They found a huge nugget and had an argument how to split it. The other cousin ran off in the night. Jeb went after him in a canoe, the cousin bashed his head with the paddle and killed him, then fell overboard and drowned due to the weight of the nugget. So now the Indian woman is free when Jacob returned. On the Indian side, Loved by the Buffalo has visions of white soldiers attacking his people, which comes true. But I didn't see the white woman who married the Indian at all.
