| Anyone ever done this? I'm thinking of spearheading a fund raiser for DS's school... and I'm thinking I'd like to put together a 5K Turkey Trot and a Tot Trot for 2008. I've been a runner for a few races, but I've never put one together before. I'm not quite sure where to begin, and feeling a little uncertain. Has anyone ever done this before, and if so can you give me some advice? Thanks so much!

| I've headed many fundraisers (including auctions and dinners), but never a run. I love the idea you've put together... sounds like a cute idea! (I'd also put in a 1k Turkey Waddle for us 'slow poke Pooh-sized' folks!) I would contact the school first to find out the insurance issues; that's always a major hurdle. Does the school already have a fundraising committee? They'll be a great resource for you.

| That sounds like fun! I've never organized one from the start, but I've helped with some 5k fundraisers, getting sponsors, t-shirts, etc. It's a lot of work but totally worth it, plus I just love to say the words "Turkey Trot."

| I used to work at a private school that ran a yearly 5K road race. In the initial years, the hardest thing to get going was recognition that there was a race. Then they learned that you can purchase mailing lists according to interests, like in this case....running. I'm not sure how you would go about doing that, but once they learned that trick registration soared! Sounds like a fun event!
