|  I'm SO ready for some football!!  I've got my lucky green Rider Prider jersey on. I've got the crockpot cookin' so I don't have to during the middle of the game. I bought some, er, "football supplies" earlier and they're chillin' in the fridge. I think I'm all set for kickoff!! This matchup would never have happened if Ottawa hadn't lost their franchise last year because Winnipeg is normally a Western Division team, but due to convenience for the Canadian Football League, we were moved to the Eastern Division after Ottawa's team dissolved. So this is wa-haaaay awesome!! It's pretty tough being a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan living in Winnipeg -- everybody in Winnipeg thinks I'm a banjo-picking, tractor-riding redneck hick traitor (hey c'mon --- I've never picked a banjo in my life y'all!!  ). And everybody in Saskatchewan thinks I'm a big-city, Blue-cheering turncoat.  No matter who wins the Grey Cup today, I'll be happy in the end. I've supported the Riders fiercely since 1981. I've supported the Bombers since 1993. I'm a long time fan of both teams. So it's win-win for me.  But I'd certainly enjoy a Rider win since they've only managed to win the Cup twice in my lifetime (and one of those times was the year I was born  ) Plus I'd dearly love for Deena's (katspjs) FIL to see the Riders win one more time!!

| Donna, earlier tonight I had NESN (New England Sports Network) on. I watched a show that touches on all sorts of sports around here....of course I was looking for Red Sox news! After the show, they broadcast The Grey Cup!! I didn't watch it (I have a mental block when it comes to understanding football), but I immediately thought of you!!  the spirited fans in the stadium!!

| Hey, that's cool that it was being broadcast in the States, even if it's a couple days past. Now, as for the fans.....  That was in Toronto with a bunch of Rider Priders, Blue Believers and Toronto people who couldn't scalp their tickets after their team didn't make it to the big dance . You should see what the fans are like when it's purely "prairie" folk. Saskatchewan Roughriders have the wildest fans anywhere, any sport in North America (although I'm starting to think you Red Sox fans are coming close  ). I mean, how many fans are willing to wear a half a watermelon on their head or blow off gunpowder from a tin can attached to a helmet on their head?? Guys that paint their faces and chests orange or purple and go shirtless in December have nothing on these fans! Trust me, we learn how to party during our 7 months of winter - gotta keep warm somehow - and we carry it through to supporting our football team. Whooo Riders!! /=S=/
