| Gosh - I'm shocked and saddened. He was such a huge part of Phillies baseball and will be truly missed.

| I'm watching the game right now and it's just not the same. I'll never forget the final out of the World Series last October. |

| The phillies games will never be the same. Harry's voice has been in every game since I was a kid and his excitement when the phillies won will be missed. Rest in Peace, Harry. I know you have been sick for a while. ![]() |

| Hi, I was at work yesterday when my friend Dominic whispered, "Harry Kalas died". I later confirmed it on the Phillies website. I couldn't believe that he's gone. When I got home from work last night I turned on Comcast Sportsnet (channel 34), which was replaying Kalas' final game, April 12, 2009, Phillies at Rockies, a 7-5 Phillies win, and got to hear him say, "Outta here!" for the last time ever. Memories of Kalas' great calls, enthusiasm, one-of-a-kind voice, and his chemistry with another late Phillies icon, Richie Ashburn, came flooding back. Mike Schmidt's 500th: "The three-oh pitch from Don Robinson,,,Swing and a long drive! There it is!! Number 500! The career 500th home run for Michael Jack Schmidt!" From last October 29, a game I attended, the only time he got to call a winning World Series for the Phillies. Philly lost its baseball voice yesterday afternoon. We in the Philadelphia area will miss him terribly. Thank you, Harry and Whitey (Ashburn), for the real-life, baseball-themed buddy movie. Sincerely, A grieving Phillies phan

| It's gonna be a rough couple of days. I grew up in Philly and on the Phillies. Harry's voice is just something that you expected to hear when listening to the games. I remember the past few yrs myself, DH and our two sons would sit on the back deck in the summer eating crabs and listening to the game on the radio. I just said two days before his passing to my oldest son, I can't imagine listening to the game without his voice. Sends chills down my spine! It definately will not be the same anymore. God bless you Harry..... ![]() ![]() |
