SPAIN wins Euro 2012!!
Congrats to Spain's national team for winning Euro 2012. It was a great tournament, and lots of fun for those of us who were lucky to be in Poland/Ukraine for some of it.
What a great final - records being broken right and left by Spain!
Of course, now we're on to looking towards World Cup 2014, so I'll be focusing my cheering towards the US team, but I just had to give some major props to my favorite European side!

Spain did really well for a team that played with no true striker for most of the tournament.
They did a lot better than my Dutch.

I agree. I have no idea why they played Torres so scarcely. He was having a much better tournament than Silva, so it really surprised me that they kept starting Silva. I was so impressed that Torres still ended up winning the Golden Boot though!

Torres excelled in that "super sub" role when Spain wanted/needed to play with a striker.

Congrats to Spain!
As you say, they've broken a lot of records and kudos to them. When I saw the final score last night, I did think of you...

And Spain still hold the distinction of being the only nation to lose to England on penalty kicks in a major competition.

This is true, but I still might have been screaming at the TV when I saw they weren't starting him in the final...
I was so excited that he scored when they did finally bring him in, becoming the only player ever to score in two Euro finals.
