I was able to get a Pal Mickey on Ebay, the sorceror one that I really wanted. (I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get him when we go a year from now!) I see the point a lot of people made about the clip he came with not working very well. I'd like to find a better way for the kids (5 and 7 then) to carry him, so I don't have him and the backpack all day every day.
Has anyone found a better way than the clip? Maybe a backpack meant for dolls or something?
just get a lanyard - mine came with one - but buy a lanyard and then it is easy to carry around - we carried ours the whole trip - 12 days - he was great!
We use the bottle straps they sell in the parks. Slip the noose around his neck...oh, wait, that doesn't sound right! Slip the "bottle holder" over his head and snug it up. It's a great length and can be carried across rather than all the weight on your neck.
We also use a strap -- we had a "Pooh" water bottle holder, and stopped using it because our other water bottlew didn't fit in there any more. But the strap was perfect to hold Mickey! The lanyards with the clips at the bottom will work nicely for Mickey as well!
I got a PM in 10/04 and the clip broke, when we went back in 1/06, i went to the resort gift shop and explained about the broken clip, no questions, the cast member handed over a PM lanyard.
I like the bottle holder idea though, he sometimes gets heavy hanging on your neck!
I found a carbiner keyring at one of the stores. I put the keyring through the loop and then can attach the carbiner to my belt loop or purse ring or whatever. It worked great and Mickey still wears it ready for our next trip!
DD carried Pal Mickey almost the entire trip with no complaints because she had so much fun with him! But the few times she did give him up I used the metal laynard clip to attach him to the zipper of either my baggillini or her backpack, and that worked great. The one time I put him in my bag for a ride, and didn't take him out after was a riot when he started to vibrate, and I couldn't figure out what was going on!
he's available at most gift shops, which include resorts. yes, he's for sale virtually everywhere. there's only the sorcerer mickey edition now, but they sell a few different outfits for him. but i've heard the sorcerer mickey doesn't take those clothes, but i don't know that for certain either.
