The week my family will be in WDW will be during my wife and daughter's birthday. How do these fastpasses work? Is it good all day for all of the fastpass rides?
The best I have find out is from the "Moms" as The Official Home Page for All Things Disney | Home | Disney.com I have seen a couple of different things there. It seems that most parks, you can get 4 birthday fastpasses to choose from specific rides. I saw one post that said at Magic Kingdom they got 4 "E" type fastpasses and 4 other for other rides, but it was still from a specific list. The other post said you get 4 total - two from a Donald list and two from a Daisy list. Donald is: Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, and Big Thunder Mtn RR. Daisy list is: Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise and Stitch.
I would look there for the specific park your thinking about and see if it's worth it to you and your kids.

Here's a link to allears info regarding the birthday fastpass: Anita Answer!
When it initially was announced, I too thought it would be a fastpass for every ride in the park (much like the dream fastpasses that they gave away in 07-08). That would have been so cool! In my opinion, this is just not as appealing. However, if you're going at a really busy time it still may be worthwhile. We chose the gift card, but we were there a few weeks ago and the crowds weren't that bad yet.
After reading more about it I'm not sure it's a great option. If it was unlimited rides of RRC my DD(16) would go for that in an instant. But, you only get 4 all day and then only two "E" ticket rides. I kind of hope my DD decides on the $75 gift card. But, there are also restrictions on places to use that I've read.
