I saw a really cool idea for decorating envelopes to put mousekeeping tips in. I grabbed a couple of the envelopes from the bank the last time we were there and they are all decorated and ready to go but how much should I put in them?
I tip $4. There's 3 of us but we get 2 rooms so I just throw an extra dollar in the envelope for Abby's room (which never gets dirty as she only sleeps in there - all the snacking, tv watching etc gets done in our room).
We get 2 rooms and I put $5 in two envelopes, one for each room. I have 6 kiddos though, so we can make a pretty decent mess...although the OCD comes out in my alot of the time and I will clean up before housekeeping ever gets there!
I only tip 2 dollars but there is only 2 of us and we are not at all messy. If something spilled or something I would definately add a little more. I ususally straighten up before mousekeeping shows up. Last trip most of the time they came we were back in the room napping so I just got clean towels and gave her the dirty ones and she never came in.
I have read before to average a tip based on $1 per person. We will be in a 2 BR with 8 people, do you think $8 per day is too much? We will keep things tidy.
No, $8 a day isn't too much - not for 2 rooms. We usually tip $1 per person, per room. Earlier this month, we were 6 people in a 3 room suite (not 3 bdrm, just 2 bdrms and a sitting room) - so we tipped $18 a day. The reason is that 3 of those six were teenage girls, and THEY make a huge mess!!
We do 1 dollar for each person in the room plus 1 dollar. So last year we were 4 so we tipped 5 every day. This yr its just me and DD so we will tip 3 a day.
Ok great thanks guys so I guess for 2 kids/2adults $4 or $5 dollars should be suffucient we are staying at ASMU just a regular room with 2 double beds that we will keep tidy but I hear they do neat things around the room with the kids stuff! Cant wait I will def post pics of the room and the envelopes in my TR!

Sometimes they do fun stuff and sometimes they don't. If you don't tell your kids, it'll be a fun surprise if they do.
We've gotten a couple of towel animals, had the kids toys stacked on top of pillows with one of them holding the remote once and had a hammock made that stretched across 2 beds and had DD's animals and doll put in it once.
Please don't be disappointed if nothing happens. After all our trips, we've only had fun stuff done 4 times.
