My bride has surprised me with a trip without our kids in a few months and I want to have a special gift delivered to our room without her knowing. Has anyone used the floral and gift service? Looking at their offerings, I would like to pick from a few off of the packages and make a gift set of my own. Are they flexible? Is there another service you would recommend?
Yes - last Sept. We renewed our vows in Vegas just before WDW so upon our arrival I arranged to have the Disney Florist send the package that had a red Mickey head basket/tray, Moet and 2 mickey etched glasses, chocolates, biscuits, autographed Mickey/Minnie photo with red matt ready for framing(this was customised with a congratulations message) - cost about $130. I think the Moet was the only item I substituted as neither my DH or I drink wine, I figured we could share champas/OJ with our friends - which we did!
However I expected the basket to be in our room upon check in and (I don't know why) I expected the items to be 'set up' like displayed on the bedside table or something. But when I checked in they straight out spoiled the surprize by saying they had a package for me and handed it to me (my DH was off somewhere in the gift shop with the kids). I complained that I wanted it to be in the room and they said it had alcohol so had to be picked up by someone of age! This was the only disappointment.
So in conclusion I would recommend the Disney Florist as they presentation and items were perfect but consider how/when you would like your bride to know about the gift.
I believe that is the normal rule, that they cannot have anything in your room until after you've checked in, regardless of what it is? Pretty sure someone can correct me on that one...
Just wanted to also mention Memories by Betsy. Memories by Betsy: Custom Gift Baskets
She's a local Orlando gal who creates personalized gift baskets with whatever you want! You can pick something standard from examples on her website, or pick and choose exactly what you want. I believe you can even mail her items to put in the basket as well - just not food items. There's still a delivery fee, but overall I think you get more bang for your buck than with Disney Floral. It's worth a look! I've used her myself for 4 baskets and they were perfect.
Congrats on the trip - hope you have a great time!

I used Disney Floral and Gifts for the Welcome Celebration, they came and decorated our room for my two boys while we were at Wishes Fireworks, they did an outstanding job. I did make some changes but it was more like an addition to than a change as the woman I placed my order with told me that they don't make any changes to the Room Celebration packages, it was pricey but I would do it again.
Thanks everyone. I think I'll request for the basket to arrive a few days in to our trip, so I can avoid the awkward here's your basket at check in. Hope I can pull it off!
Yes!
They are wonderful, but as stated, they will not deliver until your 2nd day.
I actually offered to pay whatever premium charge they asked to have it there when we got back from the Christmas Party the first night, (during the slow season) but they still refused just in case our room wasn't ready by 9pm (which I would have been pretty irate about anyhow)
But anyhow, yes the quality is great and I am sure they would be more than willing to accommodate any special requests as several items that were to ve included in our "proclaim your princess" in room celebration were replace with other (more expensive!) items!
We prefer memories by Betsy-they ensure the package will arrive before your arrival.
We mailed items to her to place in the baskets[teddy bears], plus chose items of characters we liked[Ariel-Marie-sebastan,etc]
