Remember Mother Theresa's comment, "I know He won't give me more than I can handle, I just wish he didn't have so much confidence in me." You will both get through this, you've survived so much already, just a lot to process at once, especially when it is happening , not so much to you, as to someone you love.

That saying was something I said a lot when DD Samantha was injured and in hospital for 9 out of 12 months the first year! I just never knew it was Mother Theresa who said it until years later!
On a serious note: PLEASE - find an attorney. Especially since she has a couple of issues going on: 1. out of state, 2. bi-polar making it harder to deal with the (for lack of a better word) crap insurance companies put you through, 3. she was injured, 4. neither of you have any experience with this!, and 5. she had just been ticketed for unsafe driving (the other guy's insurance might try to use that against her)
Call her insurance company and ask them to help find a lawyer in the area the accident was in.
I'm so glad she's going to be okay. DD Kathryn was in a minor fender-bender on ice a couple of years ago and the terror I got when I got that phone call was horrid! I can't imagine what hearing that bad a wreck on the phone would do to a mom! You may need to talk to someone to help deal with this. Concussions are nothing to scoff at, but they are survivable. Glad your parents (your mom) only stayed a little while.
Yesterday I was telling dh about your daughter's accident and that you were on the phone with her when she was hit. He started crying for you and immediately prayed for you and your dd. So, there in the car we had a bit of prayer time just for you and your dd. I'm sure if the Lord moved on our heart to pray that there are other hearts He is moving on also. Please keep us updated so we can know how to continue our prayers.

Thank you so very much. I was just overwhelmed with a sense of peace reading everyone's recent responses; you cannot know how much it helps in the chaos of it all. I keep reminding myself that we are blessed beyond measure that it was only "stuff" that was seriously damaged and she will emerge with few long-lasting consequences. We are learning a lot as we go about the system and ourselves.
She did spend 8 hours in the hospital getting a more complete workup that added "cervical sprain" (whiplash) to her dx, but the chiari seems fine. She just headed out to work as she's feeling somewhat on the upswing. I did find out that she's covered for a free phone consult with an attorney under my company legal plan, so we are going to start there and see what is next. I told her that it's too involved NOT to have an attorney, so she will certainly be heading that direction. I've had a chance to do some "debriefing" here and there, but am looking to sit down with a professional (for that and some other stuff) before long.
She was on doctor's orders to stay home on NYE, so was upset about that, but at least she's alive and well enough to enjoy watching festivities on TV with younger DDs.
I had to work NYE and, boy, was it a party at DAKL! We had a live band playing in the Jambo lobby for a good part of the evening (until 12:15am) and it was dancing and hats and noisemakers and confetti everywhere. Tons of fun for our Guests and it was a delight to see everyone having such a good time.
I am finally on my weekend (felt like The. Longest. Week. Ever.) I'm 3 weeks overdue for a haircut, so that's on the agenda for tomorrow...along with the massage chair shampoo! ahhhhh...
Kids keep us young--or make us old before our time! Take your pick! Dittos on the attorney. She should not have to deal with all this, work and school, too. And neither should you! Glad you have the legal services there for you. Sounds like Disney takes care of their own--as it should be! Happy and Blessed New Year to you, Gray! Last year was a real roller coaster for you. I hope this year you can relax and enjoy! You deserve it!
Hope the massage helps! Glad to hear you will be consulting with a lawyer!! Dealing with the car crash phone call from heck myself that I received from my DD a few days back. She is in Baltimore MD and my older son was with her at the time. Of course I am in MA! We have to pay for the rental upfront as well and submit receipts to the insurance company for reimbursement. I am just thankful that no one was seriously injured as a driver who was texting smashed the rear end of her car into an intersection and pushed the front end of it into a delivery truck, smashing both ends of her car and turning it into an accordian!

OMG! I hope they are OK, too...tons of pixies heading your way as well!
DD finally got her rental car, but is now in "lawyer-up" mode, so we are still trying to find someone in Arkansas who can handle it for her.
We had a brush with fame today...younger 2 and I were out running errands and stopped in Whole Foods for our monthly gluten free spree. When we came back out, there was a car parked too close on the passenger side for them to get in, so I was just going to back out, but the driver motioned to them that he would move. I glanced over and it was Chef Robert Irvine! I was trying not to freak out, but I was mouthing "That's Robert Irvine!" at the girls then they got the giggles over it, too. He had backed into another spot and I went to wave a thank you, then did a "we love you" signing (idiot fan-girl) thing which he waved and smiled. It was kinda cool. Robert Irvine, Whole Foods shopper and gentleman.
Glad to hear DD is starting to feel better..................
Em feels bad as she totally forgot to text Bree while we were down, but it was a crazy, insane, non-stop whirlwind quick trip!!! She is hoping that she will be able to spend some time in July!!! Did I mention that we are staying at Jambo house for the first week???? So excited!!! Waitlisting CL and hoping that it comes through!!! We will then be at BLT for the 2nd week!! LOL........remember I told him if he wanted to stay at BLT, Emily & I had to stay at AKL!!! Girls gotta get their way!!!
