My training continues. It's an eclectic blend of what I already know and things that are brand new based on the location differences. Being a DVC member has helped tremendously, though. I'm still adjusting to room numbers/locations and then getting there, either on bike or on foot. I also don't have my "groove" yet as my office is kind of removed so I can make coffee there in my Keurig (as long as I've remembered water), but my creamer is another building in the fridge. I'm sure it will all come together once I work out those kinds of things.
I was doing a walk-through the other night down at Kidani and looked out over the savanna and saw a zebra. I still get "goosies" when I think about it. I'm not sure it's all sunk in just yet.
It is amazing how quickly time seems to be passing, especially as I get older (on paper at least)!
Walking and riding a bicycle around AKL! How awesome is that? While I did not like the resort's staff when we stayed there, I did love seeing the animals out our balcony. It would be just beyond cool to look out daily and watch those beautiful animals live their lives in such luxury!
Do you have to memorize all the animals? What they are and their names? Are they named?

Oh, heavens, I hope not! I'd be in trouble with my peri-menopause brain! Yes, they do have names, but I don't know them. I am trying to pick up the gist of the who's and what's, though. An eland "clicks" when they walk, we have 2 different kinds of zebra (Grant and mountain), and the ankole cattle have blood vessels in their horns so they aren't really as heavy as they look.

Ok, that's just so dang cool that knowing this is part of your job!!

May you NEVER lose the "goosies" because that means its still as exciting as you thought it would be! I am so glad to be able to be up to date on this chapter...you attract a lot of followers! I am so excited as we will be there May 17th thru June 1 and we are night owls!
Do you oversee both Jambo and Kidani at night? Is your office Jambo since that is "main" building?
So happy for you...
Oh was going to tell you building a house is stressful because of all the different decisions but heh you are picking out SAFARI paint ... Im not concerned anymore LOL

Look at you in your Joe's shirts!!! I was born in Stillwater so I still get a little excited when I see them.
My official office is on the Kidani side, but I work out of wherever I can find the space and a printer which is usually Jambo. I spend a lot of time with the front desk folks and just walking around taking it all in. I'm off on Wed/Thurs nights, so make sure to ask for me and I'll come see you!
It just sounds like heaven....having a job you love and enjoy, and seeing a zebra on your nightly stroll through the resort, definitely the perfect combination for an amazing position.
So, Dawn, when we're there in December and I can't sleep-which is often, can I come down and have a cup of Joe with you, or is yakking with guests in the middle of the night a big NO-NO????

Hey, as long as I'm not on a call somewhere, of COURSE I can visit with a GUEST!
I'm glad things are going great for you. You might look into getting a small table
size fridge for your office. That way you will have your creamer on hand and
not across the resort.

OMG I didn't know that!!!!!
This year we have lime green/red letters! We weren't even matching in this pic! Seriously, this will make the trip even more special! We shop in stillwater for groceries, medicine, entertainment. I graduated from OSU in 93 and 95, living there from Fall 89 to Spring 95. Anything we can bring you from home ? Like a Joes shirt???
Now I gotta search the pics for one where we match LOL.
DH freaking out thinking it is so cool we "know" a manager. LOL you are famous!
Warning he may try to offer to "help" with the pin trading boards. Don't worry he has prior experience at SSR. They were reworking the boards one night and let him help....: D. LOL!!
