Talking Need some inspirational ideas

So this coming January 2013, my family will be hosting my best friend's family on their very first trip to WDW. We are DVC owners (SS is our home) and are sharing these benefits with our friends.

To get her excited and informed, as well as keep the magic alive and growing I have been doing the following: Everyday, on Facebook, I post a Disney quote (doesn't have to be a movie quote), a count down (267 days, 21 hours, 48 minutes and 53 seconds until our Disney Vacation!!), a Daily Disney Did You Know fun fact or secret, and finally a YouTube video of a ride, attraction, restaurant, character, etc..

I'm running out of ideas! I've hit just about all the rides (not all - definitely all the thrill and popular ones), the parades, fireworks, and even PUSH, ClubCool and Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Anybody got any neat little things you share with friends/family to get them excited about going to WDW? Stuff that may not be so obvious, but brings wonder and amazement or that you just found to be a 'must do'?

Wow. You've got a long way to go.
I think I'd cut back to once a week (every Monday, or Saturday or whatever day of the week you're leaving) and hit it hard again the last month or two.

I agree on cutting back for a little while until you get closer! Maybe hit up some Google images for Disney. Or YouTube videos, clips of park songs, rides, etc.

well, I've been doing this since we decided to go last July. She gets a kick out of every post and while I do try to do it every day, I have to say I've skipped a few if I haven't been on the computer that day or if I'm sick or what not.
She says it gives her a nice smile during the day, especially if she's having a bad one.

Besides, there's so much at Disney to share with her I don't think I'll really run out! I just need a little inspiration and was hoping some of you knew some things I might not!

I absolutely get the fun and magical build-up in a countdown. You can share fun Disney YouTube and Google images on her FB wall/timeline. That should open you up to all kinds of new ideas!! Have fun!

Hidden mickey locations

History of the ride or attraction

Comparison of attractions in several parks (eg Tower of Terror story is different in Japan, Haunted Mansion is in a different land in each park, Mr Toad is only left at DL...)

What about theming of hotels? Interesting tidbits of info about hotels that were never built.

What about "On this day in Disney history"? or Fun facts about Disney movies? (I have a desk calendar that has an interesting movie fact for each day).

You could include the story behind each of the parades, fireworks show or Fantasmic. A hidden story or mickey to look out for on attractions.

The restaurants are also a sorce of often overlooked details too (eg The Lady & the Tramp window at Tony's Town Square, the flags at Cinderella's Royal Banquet etc).

The windows on Main St and their namesakes (whole book on this available on Amazon or in the parks).

I agree you have many days of info to fill so maybe just adding one thing like a quote or explanation each morning will stretch out your countdown.

I wish my friends "got Disney" like you obviously do - Have fun!

Yep, I already do that. I'm just hoping for some ideas of things I may not have thought of or am aware of. Things other people have enjoyed that maybe we might, too.

Disney Fun Facts:
Like - MK utilidors are NOT in the basement, the park is actually the second floor.
HM - between WDW and DL, one of them the room moves in an elevator type thing, and one of them the walls just go up.
MK - Tom Sawyer's Island - look for the paintbrush, take it to a CM, and get a prize.
MK - names on windows are names that were (are) important to the Disney family.

You could go on and on.

I want to be on the receiving end of your countdown! So fun!

Have you made a paper countdown chain? That might be fun to surprise her with. Maybe you could surprise her with one of her own. I have included Disney trivia and once in a while a Disney movie to watch. Mine is currently 558 links long but we take one off every day and it is a physical countdown and it is exciting to see it shrink.

Good luck!

Cam 22 turned me on to Susan Veness' book, The Hidden Magic of WDW. Get yourself a copy and there are many fun facts in that book!
