We are doing a split stay and will move to a one bedroom on Aug 9. This is the same day we will begin using a rental vehicle. We will have 5 nights at OKW.
We thought about using Garden Grocer but the prices seem outrageous. (DH works for an online grocery delivery service here in MN so he is interested to check out services in other markets--but not if it will cost us double. They also have a very limited selection of beer ).
How do GG prices compare to regular grocery store prices in Orlando? Do other stores charge $10 for a 24-pack of water bottles and $6 for a box of cheerios?
Since we will have a vehicle starting the 9th...where would be the best place to go to grab a few days of groceries and snacks?
Last trip, we ran out of water and I needed it for the baby's bottles (he refused to drink the tap water), My husband asked at for directions to a nearby store because we needed a full case. The CM gave him great directions (and a handy map) to the nearest Publix and a Walmart and even looked up to find out which store carried the brand of water we'd been using (Publix had it). He said the grocery prices were pretty comperable to what we pay at home w/out coupons.
This is a great thread. DH and I were just lamenting the cost of things on GG last night. Our problem is that we won't have a car. So, we might have to bite the bullet and order from there anyway.

There is always wegoshop.com as an alternative to GG. I takes a little more work since they are like personal shoppers, you have to write down more details: ie. name brands, sizes, etc. We have used them the last few trips since DS is brand specific on a few things. They will shop wherever you request (Publix, Walmart, etc) and you pay what they pay plus a delivery fee. They will pick up beer and wine at the grocery store and for a small fee will go to a liquor store as well.
We always head for Wal-Mart, as that's now really near to Disney. Then again, we like the big stores to make sure they've got everything that we need to stock up on.
We used wegoshop last trip, because we didn't have a car. They were great and very easy to work with. We drink so much bottled water that the savings on that alone was worth the delivery charge.
I like going to Publix as the Walmarts around disney are always packed. It takes so long to check out. There are 2 located south of the last disney I-4 exit in Champions Gate about 5-10 minutes away. They are near our vaca home and usually uncrowded. Avoid going east on 192. It gets very busy and you can get stuck in traffic.
I usee Publix as Wal-Mart has some of the rudist guests around the country. I love that they have some special items that I need but best of all is their low prices and produce. If you want a special store then on the northeast corner of John Young and Irlo Bronson is a tiny store with fresh meat and produce, love them but they are too far away for my scooter.

Disneyland was fun with flag retreat and pickles. I have a home here, thank you. GAC is NOT a "front of the line pass".
She is gone but keeping signature. Laundry is getting done. My purpose in life is to help poor people in FL. Farewell, will miss you.
I like Walmart for cheap...But Publix sounds like the better bet for speed and friendliness...At home...I drag myself to walmart about once a month to stock up--and dread it everytime. For smaller trips I splurge on the local grocery store that is small, nice and pleasant.
