We're going to WDW next September because Dad wants to turn 60 there (who'dve guessed he'd get bitten by that bug lol). We're looking at 10 days to 2 weeks in FL. We'll be staying at POR (his choice).
So what can I do to make this extra magical? We're going to eat at Teppan Edo for his bday dinner so he can have sushi and other Japanese-ish goodies... He'll be golfing several times... I'm thinking of a small cake for his bday...
So what else might be fun for a 60th bday? From the super cheap to the super expensive (not that we can afford a lot but I just want every idea possible lol)
I spent my 60th at Disney and some friends arranged for the Disney florists to have balloons in my room when I arrived! Something I never thought I'd like, but it was so festive. My birthday is in December and they also arranged for a Mickey-shaped wreath for the door of my room. People stopped in the hallways to admire it and during my trip I bought a few ornaments to hang from it. No-one stole them and it was so nice to come "home" to every night.
if he would enjoy it, get him the birthday button so everyone will be giving him birthday wishes.
decorate his room
get him special t-shirts for more birthday attention
a spa day?
richard petty driving experience
photo session to remember the occasion

Well, it's not Disney, but it's close by. The David Leadbetter Golf Academy at Champions Gate, FL offers 2 day mini camps or private lessons. They are not inexpensive, but my golf crazy brother attended a mini camp when they first opened in 2004-05 and said it was the best "class" he's ever had. The instructor he had was working with Tiger Woods the week before for an upcoming tournament.
There are also several Hot Air Balloon tours in the area. I did that in Lake Tahoe on our honeymoon and it was fantastic!

OMG! I just looked that up and talked with mom! We're thinking that the three hour mini class would be PERFECT for him! It's totally worth it!
Is the shuttle from WDW an extra fee, do you know? It doesn't say one way or the other.
I'd make sure you get him a birthday button. A photo session sounds wonderful. Other ideas - how about renting a boat for an hour at one of the resorts by the Magic Kingdom, Epcot or at Downtown Disney? We love doing that. An IllumiNations or Wishes cruise is pricey, but very enjoyable as well.

Great. My brother really liked it and said his swing improved in 45 minutes. I don't know about the shuttle. I think that is for the hotel, The Omni, to get to the parks. We always have a car as we're offsite.

The shuttle page said it goes to all WDW Resort hotels... I'll put an email into their business and see what they say I'm super excited about this... man we have a year an two months to go... lol
